I can't believe this cop could lose his job investigating tractor trailer break ins. Nobody was hurt and it's the cop on trial now.

From the Toronto Sun - Cop threatened to Taser prisoners | Toronto & GTA | News | Toronto Sun

A Toronto Police officer admitted he threatened to Taser two prisoners in the testicles to force the duo to help him catch a suspect.

Const. Christopher Hominuk, 37, pleaded guilty to one count of threatening bodily harm in a May 24, 2010 incident involving two suspects.

Both victims were handcuffed and sitting alone in different police cruisers.

Hominuk’s actions were captured on the in-cruiser video cameras, which revealed him slapping Robert James Bolgan, 47, in the face and forcing him to lay down on the back seat.

The video was played in open court before Justice Hugh Fraser Monday.

As soon as Hominuk opened the cruiser door, he pushed his Taser into Bolgan’s genital area.

Crown attorney Philip Perlmutter said Hominuk demanded to know from Bolgan the identity of a missing suspect. Bolgan replied he didn’t know.

“I’ll f---ing Taser. If you are lying to me, when I get back to the station, I’m Tasering you in the f---ing nuts,” Hominuk barked at Bolgan.

Bolgan had redness to the side of his forehead where he was struck.

Hominuk then confronted his second victim, Roger William Bradshaw, 39, who was lying in a nearby cruiser’s back seat.

Hominuk pressed his Taser into Bradshaw’s neck and repeated his demand for the identity of the fugitive. When Bradshaw insisted he didn’t know him, Hominuk snarled: “If I find out you’re lying, I’m going to f---ing Taser you in the nuts.”

Bradshaw was unharmed. The Taser was never activated or used on either man.

A sentencing hearing for Hominuk, 37, is scheduled for June 14 at College Park.

Hominuk and other officers were investigating a break-in at some tractor trailers in Etobicoke when police arrested the two men and another individual at 36 Taymall Rd.

Court heard that neither victim was intimidated or physically injured. Neither complained about the threats or treatment. Hominuk’s Taser was never activated or used in the incident.

Hominuk’s misconduct was discovered while police viewed the in-camera video for an unrelated purpose.

Hominuk, a 14-year officer with an exemplary record and was a probationary sergeant at the time. He’s married and has two children, said his lawyer Peter Brauti.

Brauti told court “there will be medical evidence that will be an extenuating circumstance” at the sentencing hearing.

Hominuk lost his probationary rank and could lose his job if he’s sentenced to a custodial or conditional sentence, said Brauti.

Hominuk was suspended with pay since being charged in June last year.

"If you don't tell me what I want to know then I'm going to Taser you in the nuts"...I see nothing wrong with that...

Unlawful

I must be experiencing senile dementia since I disagree with the tone of the comments regarding this type of police behavior. When the police break the law, they are no better than the criminals they try to bring to justice. It might not seem fair that criminals break the law and the police have to obey it, but it's one of the fundamentals of living in a democratic and just society. In fact, I prefer it to any alternative.

What law did he break really telling the guy he was going to taser him? He did not do it just a threat. To many panty waste liberal laws and the injustice system is a joke. I say good for the cop to bad he forgot to turn the camera off. I bet the guy (criminal) gets off with a slap on the wrist what does that do for our insurance rates.

Worse Rob....how much you want to bet he sues the city for cruel and unusual or something stupid like that! "The Trauma they suffered at the hands of the bad cop will undoubtedly cause them suffering for the rest of their life"
should have zapped them once or twice....going down for it anyway and at least he may have gotten the info he was looking for!! LOL

When did we go from "innocent until proven guilty" to "guilty until proven innocent"? So I guess it would be okay for the cop to pull YOU over and threaten to taser your balls...and so long as he doesn't do it all is good?

The cop should be fired for STUPIDITY. The camera got him...and he forfeited the case against the accused...great work!!

Just to qualify my comments above...I was making a joke about the situation. I agree with Freight Broker and Activet. Cop shouldn't have acted that way and will now have to answer for it.

This cop just won the lottery. He'll be on 'medical leave' for 2-3 years while the hearings go on, then he'll be paid severence for his 14 years duty. On top, the taxpayers will be on the hook for legal fees for those 2-3 years just to remove him from the service.

You can't just fire them on the spot. The trucking industry is a whole different world. lol.

I for one am sick and tired of having spare tires, fuel, lug nut covers, wiper blades among other things stolen from our equipment. I'm just as sure that guys with the big trucks are tired of having king pin locks cut off of their dropped trailers and taken away to have the freight stripped off. And then having to go through all the B.S. with insurance.

If these two guys were caught in the act (the story doesn't say) and tasering them in the pouch sends a message to other would be cargo thieves. All I can say is...

Red is positive and black is negative.

The method the cop used is unorthodox but not unheard of. An undercover policewoman posing as a hooker is not obligated to tell a potential john that she is a cop. If cops are questioning a suspect, they are allowed to use deceit as a questioning tool. This cop used the same deceit, just in public view instead of in an interview room.

Legally, wrong approach. Morally, right approach.
