Just received an E-Mail from Labranche Tranport out of Drummondville. It seems that their identity has been stolen by the same people that were using some version of CLARK transport to get their loads.

It seems that someone called them off of LINK and said they had a load for them. A naive employee sent over their operating documentation to an alternate fax number seeing that the contact from LINK was having trouble with their fax and phone lines. The contact gave them a number to an internet cafe or such.

The culprits then used Labranche's authorities to pick up a load from Trans Modal, saying they were the local carrier for CLARK.
Quite a spin.

Anyway, the load has been stolen.

TASK Carriers

We have experienced the exact same situation. Someone has doctored up our authorities and have attempted to steal loads. They seem to be focused on reefer (ie: chicken, pizza supplies) loads. This guy seems to book loads and the truck does not show up - but we have not confirmed any stolen loads as yet.

Montreal is the key

From what we know the operation is staged out of Montreal and the bad guys switch pay as you go phones faster than a rig racks up miles. All I can say is check and double check before giving up a load and if you think you are about to be scammed out of a load see if you can get the police to intervene and maybe set up a sting on these @%&^#@@

I would also say be careful who you fax or email your documents to as they will steal your identity in a heartbeat...when your drivers are dropping off paperwork try and make sure they hand it to someone at the receiver rather than leave it for a bad guy to take or copy.

They seem to be more focused on stealing food and related loads.

Cheers
