How is it that load brokers think you don't deserve detention time.
Our drivers are waiting anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours to be unloaded and
the load broker wants to argue with me and then send emails saying he will not deal with
me regarding this matter.

Not a good way to start your day and the person was so obnoxious that I swore for the first time
ever at a load broker !!!

The part that makes me the most angry is that I went to his level and swore at him and hung up
on him.

Hey, don't be so hard on yourself. SPI operates a bit like TQL. Just say to yourself 'well at least I lost it with a jerk and not a good client' :D

APMLOG I have dealt with SPI Vancouver office for years and I can tell you they are good people. I deal with the heavy haul/project freight division and when things don't go right they go to bat for me. On the other hand if i screw up they are on me also. But it is a 2 way street and everyone has to work together. Try calling Jim in the Vancouver office and it may help you a little.

Update regarding SPI.

I received a call from the company regarding my post on here which did surprise me, as most do not care (it seems to me).

They listened to the facts of what happened and told me they would deal with the matter as that is not how they as a company do business.

I must say that they dealt with the matter in quick and professional manner.

So a big shout out to SPI International for being a stand up company !!!!!

Glad to see it worked out for you. They are good people to work with.

They likely reacted that way because like many people they just don't know how to interact with others very well nor do they appear to be good at dealing with conflict. Forget detention for a minute.. 90% of this business is dealing with opposing forces and resolving conflict to the reasonable satisfaction of all involved parties. The simpletons and bullies among us will stand our ground and make our demands without any consideration given towards a fair resolution...lots of those in this industry. The weaklings will cave and give away the store, and they generally don't last long. Its that rare individual who can negotiate intelligently to come up with a middle ground everyone can live with.

We had a small issue with SPI. It seems that they had an employee that wasn't working with SPI's best interests in mind. That employee moved on and offered us the business that we did for SPI.

It may not have been the company with the issue, just a specific employee.

I actually sent this link to Jim at SPI the night i saw it. As stated earlier i have worked with them for many years and knew that this was not the way they work. Jim called me after hours that night from home to find out what this was all about. As it turned out the person that was involved in this was an agent for SPI and not an employee. They operate with many independent agents. Unless somebody notifies the head office of a problem like this they would never know the problem existed. It looks like Jim grabbed this bull by the horns and wrestled him to the ground rather quickly.

[QUOTE="DWC, I am wondering why they reacted with the issue only when their company name was on here saying what jerks they are , Instead of looking after the matter at hand at the time it occured[/QUOTE]
