Speed limiters

You see more and more trucks all the time that are doing over the prescribed limit. Seems the MTO has little interest in enforcing this reg either as countless tickets are thrown out or won by the defendant in court,

Another classic example of government waste. They spent millions of dollars putting system into place, training MTO guys, buying hand held computers plus the time wasted on trying to sell the idea to the public. They forgot that there already was in law in place. It is called speeding, all they had to do was enforce a law they already had. Who would complain??

I agree with everyone that this was a useless law. But it seems that it has worked in favor of Ontarionites (god I hope that's a word) by seemlingly keeping out a lot of Americans.

Another question I have...

Has anyone's truck been "connected" by DOT and has it damaged any components as this guy claims in the article?

Also, is he or does he have the right to ask DOT to sign a waiver form?

Yes the driver has a right to ask an inspector to sign a waiver stating that the MTO will be responsible for any damage to engine caused as a result of being hooked up to thier handheld. Apparantly if you have one and ask them to sign it they will refuse and not hook up. This is until the govt lawyers figure out a way around it, and they will eventually.

Agree with WHATISHIP..Also no inspector or police officer allowed on a step of my truck and I'm the one who opens and closes the hood. Not to be rude, but protecting. So far no problem with that on many encounters.I'm also asking not to have tools in the pockets when they want to go under truck in the very polite way.
