Anyone else having trouble collecting from Skid - Freight Brokers Inc?

We are now at 87 days and of course, the cheque's in the mail...

I just spoke to the owner Sylvain, who was rather upset that I would call to ask about my overdue freight bill.

I asked when this cheque was mailed, and he said they don't keep track of that.... uh, ok.... So I asked for the date on the cheque stub, he said it was July 23... So, I guess it's been in for signing since then eh?

I told him at this point I would normally call the broker's customer, to notify them that the carrier who moved the load has not been paid, at 87 days...

I gave him the opportunity to stop payment on his late cheque and issue a new one which I would pickup by Fedex, but he refused... He said I would just have to wait for the mail, even though he doesn't know when it was mailed...

As a side note... When someone takes this long to pay me, I usually suspect double brokering...

Anyone out there broker a Cheapeake, VA to Stoney Creek, ON load to Skid Freight by any chance?

That is kinda strange jonny-chicken. 23 July was a Saturday. It was also the beginning of our famous construction holiday here in Quebec. That would probably mean that it was never written on the 23rd because I don't know many who had their minds at work on the 23rd. Which, I repeat, was a Saturday.

Apparently I didn't consult a calendar when doing my investigations here... haahaa...

Right... Saturday... that seems to fit the pattern with this company so far...

I have been in contact with the customer to inform them of the non-payment, they are just a 5 minute drive from my office...

Pretty sure I will get the cheque by next week with a post-date of this past Monday, the day I contacted their customer. If not, I am ready to sue at a moment's notice...

Cheque received in today's mail at 89 days...

Interesting to note, that although the owner had no idea when the cheque was mailed, I can see in our notes that Skid's A/P staff gave us the mailing date of September 7... and they only held it for another 7 days after that, as the envelope is dated Sept 14...

Oh, and the cheque itself was dated July 22, so I guess it's been in for signing since then...

Pretty long haul to collect $800...

DNU, STAY AWAY !!!! They don't respond to emails, phone calls nothing. I wish I would have seen these posts before taking the load.

For whatever it's worth, it does show in our system as "DNU" since 2017 due to payment term discrepancies.

We picked up a load for these guys, and they are not replying over the phone or emails, any updates on these guys?

we'ev always factored their invoices, and they do take them. They won't pick up your calls, even if there's an issue with the pick up numbers etc. Crap rates too, not a fan of them. Sylvains number is blocked over here.
