Hello, any suggestions for Canadian single shipment cargo insurance providers? We have clients that insist on insured values for shipments but Lloyds doesn't do shipment certs anymore. Thanks

Contact your broker, they all have connections. Your insurance provider most likely offers it. I just purchased one for Declared value, across Canada with Old Republic.

Marsh Canada has a division called Cargo Cover that offers this service. Easy on line application and pretty quick turn around on quotes and coverage. We have been using them for a few years now with no problems.

Options are; Coast Underwriters, SUM Insurance, CNA or Eagle Underwriters. Other secondary market such as Northbridge or Burns and Wilcox can also do it. But they require a lot more info.
I can do 1/2 hour turn around with Coast or CNA. As long as the right info is provided.

Single shipment/value loads can now be insured immediately without much hassle. Feel free to reach out.

Also, anyone can insure the goods whether broker/carrier or owner of good.

https://www.cargocover.com/ as mentioned above

Just watch the deductible and let the customer know what they are liable for; fragile goods, used equipment subject to $1000 deductible.
Cargo cover needs an account setup and a deposit so great for someone that needs regular purchase.

I am talking about one-off or when you need high value coverage, up-to 2 Million USD available.

We set up Cargo Cover approx. 5 years ago, I dont remember it being difficult or a despot required but we also pay with a CC for each certificate.

Our insured limit through Cargo Cover is approx. $400,000 CDN, anything over that requires a referral to our account manager and can't be done automatically through the portal.

Obviously $2,000,0000 USD would require different approach and I would be looking for a carrier that specializes in high value cargo that might already have that coverage or can reach out to their insurance provider for a rider on the move. Given your user name I'm guessing you specialize in this.

The same for us. We have insured very high value shipments, just took a while for the review process.

No doubt, cargo cover works.

I was stating an alternative where there is no need for an account setup/deposit and to cover high values.

This used to be a pain in the past but things have become easier now.
