just got off the phone with Lorne ( wouldn't give me his last name....kept telling me to look it up ) about a load one of his employees brokered to us out of ESTEVAN SK to Monahans TX.... told us he would pay us to run empty from Winnipeg MB to Estevan , and even promised to pay a 300.00 layover to hold the truck for an extra day as ROBERT Fynn his employee promised us....

turns out we arrived on a Friday to load as asked, and Robert had given everyone wrong dimensions, by a foot in height, a foot in width and 3 feet in length, so we couldn't take it with the equipment we were asked to load with.....so after waiting for 3 days to load and it being a Friday we had to drive back to Winnipeg empty......

I wanted TONU ,mileage and the layovers as promised.... Robert at Scout Lowballed us and said 500.00, we said not a chance, we wanted 2.00/per mile to and from plus the layovers and a TONU..... but they are shrugging us and the other carriers they screwed over too.... I WOULD NEVER EVER deal with this jerk or his company again. Lorne is classless and hung up on me telling him I was going to be needing all of it.... Carriers beware of taking loads from this class act!

I agree, Lorne is a bumwipe and he and his pal Manny went to the same school and got a Masters degree in how to mistreat carriers. They've been screwing around carriers since the Gallop Logistics days. Put them on ignore next time......I did long ago and I found a lot of people that pay what you what they promised to pay you. Tough break running into those guys but consider it an education!

Can you give me the address of Scout Logistics? I have it on Dundas Street in Toronto but have a contact of Gary. I want to make sure we're talking the same Scout Logistics

I searched Scout and I noticed that there was some sort of partnership. Maybe its old news or inaccurate.

I spoke to my account rep at Grand finance. They do not own Scout Logistics , nor is there a partnership. And she told me that Factbanc was no longer in business. For the record.

Not saying you're wrong, but that sounds to be very out of character for Lorne.
Full disclosure, I know Lorne, Manny, and Adam personally and have literally conducted millions of dollars worth of business with them over the years, both prior to the split when they all owned Gallop Logistics, and after when Lorne started Scout, and Manny and Adam started Triple Star.
My personal read on this situation; Scout is excellent on reefer freight. I'd be somewhat reticent to tap them for dry freight or deck freight though. It's just not their strong suit.
However, that really doesn't help you out in this case. I expect a reasonable, non-confrontational conversation with Lorne would get you a lot further. If it were me, I would simply call and make an appointment to make a follow up call to discuss the matter in detail. That will give him time to gather information and investigate his side of the issue, and you time to present a well reasoned and evidentiary argument on your side. I think in that vein, you will find him to be not unreasonable.
On the other hand, if you have seriously pissed him off during your initial conversation, you may very get nothing anyways. Regardless, it's worth a try to 1) recover your expenses, 2) maintain a professional relationship with a brokerage that has considerable influence in the industry.
Just my humble 2 cents worth, and of course it's free advice which means it may very well be worth exactly what you paid for it :)
Good Luck.

Freight15. My humble opinion is that when you are promised the world, you should follow up by getting all of this in writing. Also call the shipper to confirm before moving your truck empty such a distance. Running 500 kms empty to get a load on the promise of compensation by the broker is a BIG risk. No matter how trustworthy you think the broker is, they can make mistakes too. If they object to you calling the shipper yourself, then you know something is not right. This doesn't help you now, but maybe it will help someone else down the road. You can be sure that it is highly unlikely a broker will pay you thousands of dollars in expenses for a load that did not move. Btw, I only offer this advice because obviously it has happened to us before. We always call shippers to confirm before sending a truck now. Good luck with this!

I agree. A good freight broker who definitely will pay you for deadhead should have no problem to create a separate load instruction sheet with a different PO number for the deadhead move/agreed accessorial charges and then a separate one for the actual load. If the freight broker will not do that, then you take your chances.
