SAMSARA VS MOTIVE, OMNITRACS, GEOTAB

Looking for some sugestions as we are trying to escape Omnitracs XRS and their outdated and poorly managed systems. Just a bit of background, we have been with omnitracs XRS for over 5 years. Our drivers began experiencing very strange issues that at first we didnt believe and though they are using excuses to drive more, but later turned out to be true.

1. Malfunction of the XRS Device; where it would just burn out and fail. This obviously forced our drivers off the road, until we provided replacements or permision to drive on paper log.
2. Malfunction of their HOS system, when drivers go from Canada to USA, their HOS displays more than 14 hour dutie time, or more driving then actually allowed. This is a very complex issue we attempted to resolve with their IT/Development team for over 2 years. Still no solutions. The worst part is that the driver is happy about the extra hours he gets, but the following day he get multiple violations...

Now that we are set to change the provider Samsara is our top choice, Motive is second and Geotab is probably third. Anyone have been with at least the first 2 to share differences, pros and cons?

Looking forward to hearing from you all soon, as its lining up with our insurance renewal and we want to leverage this to get better premiums.

Motive user, pretty good functionality, UI and overall experience. Features are almost identical if not 1 to 1 with Samsara from my research. Only went with Motive since we started with them, but cant say anything negative about our choice, support is pretty decent and our sales rep is a call away. Drivers picked up on the app with minimal training, Cant speak on GEOTAB haven't had any experience with their products, but cant imagine them being that far behind. Pricing may be a factor, between the first 2 there's an abundant amount of competition, use that as leverage in your negotiations. They will roll out the red carpet if you have 10 or more trucks/trailers. GL

Samsara user - made the switch last year from Omnitracs - the HOS issue was also our proverbial last straw.
We tested out Motive as well - in the end went with Samsara due to customer service response / easy user interface and I found the IFTA calculations were easier to navigate (we file our own IFTA) / minimal learning curve for drivers on either app

We've been using Samsara since 2019 across both our trucks and trailers and the experience has been very positive overall.

Reliability has been solid, no major issues reported by the drivers over the years. Occasionally, there have been minor signal problems, but that's expected with any telematics provider. When we've had defective devices, Samsara’s customer service is quick to send replacements.

The system is user friendly. The drivers were able to learn it quickly, and the mobile app is a big plus, it allows us to track all the equipment from virtually anywhere.

We offered to connect the sales rep with another large company we shared a yard with so they provided a discount on our contract which saved our company some money.

We've used Omnitracs and Verizon Connect in the past but Samsara stands out. Based on our experience, we would vouch for Samsara. Easy to use with strong customer support.
