Anyone else having problems with Rockman? We are going on 5 months of lies from them regarding payment. Now the owner of Rockman is involved and even he is lying to us. He said he would send us a post dated chq and never sent it. Now they don't return calls. Anyone that it owed $$ from Rockman...good luck!

Where have you been?

Things have not changed, we've been discussing Rockman for as long as inside transport has existed. Do a search on here you will see what I mean. Please report this to Loadlink, people must take action or this nonsense will not cease.

It's bad enough they double broker, the least they can do is pay but nothing suprises me with Rockman, this is by far the most unethical group of people I have come across in the trucking industry since the mid 90's. What baffles me is that there is just no end to it, it goes on and on.

BTW Transport Denis Cyr and Rockman are 100% the same, carrier authority they got from purchasing CYR makes it easier for them to book freight as a carrier with brokers.

Can someone check out the principal listed on the D&B report for Transport Denis Cyr and verify if this is the same Howard Rockman. listed as the principal on Rockman Trucking?

Rockman

Stay away from them. Take 5 - 6 months to pay.
Howard's behaviour and antics remind me of another gentleman that was recently in court and was postponed.(CY)
As of February another new girl (they only last 2 months in his employ)Barbara in payables 514-422-1085
Cell phone # for Mr Rockman hiimself 514-863-4101
We fax pod same day as delivery .... they get paid from their client ... 6 months later we the carrier are waiting for our money.

Group effort required

Remember folks, 3 complaints and Rockman gets kicked off their system. Email Victoria at Loadlink ASAP

Do the good brokers who sell to US clients a favor

STOP TAKING FREIGHT FROM ROCKMAN

Without you, they can't exist.

I love taking a couple loads from Rockman, Dennis Cyr, G Roch, and all the other world famous double brokers. I get the load info call the shipper ask who they gave it to call them and get more money direct from the US guy. This works very well for me so if you don,t mind I will continue to take loads from these dregs and get new customers at better rates and not have to subscribe to 5 or 6 different load boards because they do it for me.. I like to think of it as a money maker and customer service am I wrong???:D

Hey Rob we do the same thing anyone who we know is a doulble brokering load wh*re we take all the loads they give us and do the same thing.........the best way to make them stop.

No idea, we became aware of it October 7th after alerting a freight forwarder that Rockman was double brokering.

Tips for resolving the current issue (once and for all)

I did a little bit of research on Rockman and for those of you reporting non-payment you can file on their bond. Companies normally don't like it when a carrier files on their bond. From my experiences, filing on a companies bond can have an impact.

Bond Information
Insurance Co : OASIS CAPITAL Phone Number : (714) 690-3762
Contact : RANEE WHITE Insurance Date :

For companies that are paying members of Internet Truckstop, you can also report this issue to them.
Internet Truckstop - The BEST Internet Load Board In the industry!

If you have proof that the load was double brokered, be sure to include that in the comments section.

I know of customers that use US brokers who in turn give the freight to Rockman. A lot of them think Rockman is actually picking it up ... few know they are double-brokering.

A lot of US brokers actually look for a Canadian to co-broker with because they don't know the industry here -- they just want the freight moved. They pretty much don't give a damn what happens to the final carrier. It is gullible for anyone to think they do -- the only reason you would get the freight rather than Rockman is if you are the same $ or cheaper -- they are BROKERS after all.

If you REALLY want to avoid taking loads from them and going on a Leon's 6 month no pay no interest plan, then you have to stop feeding them. The relationship between the US broker and shipper will erode and the good brokers out there can pick up the business ... everyone is happy.

Otherwise, why would you whine about how slow they are paying you???

if they pay slow it is because you agreed to do the load...

just like cheap freight, if you say yes you are building your own monster...

Also co-brokering is very common, so maybe the double-brokering you think is going on is actually agreed co-broker between 2 brokers, which happens with US-CDN freight and US-US freight...

In some cases yes, in others no. For instance, G Roch actually pretty much markets itself towards US brokers as a co-broker. Rockman portrays itself as a carrier. Quite different.

We don't co-broker where I am now but we did where I used to be ... usually when the US broker had an arrangement with their customer to do so. Even though usually, we'd end up getting screwed out of the deal. So I personally stopped marketing to them many years ago.

What's going on between G Roch and its broker customers is legit. I don't see how it adds value to the end customer though. So I still frown upon it.

thanks theman, at least it clears up that G Roch is not screwing its broker customers...

and whether you frown upon it or not it is still legit and all good business to business relationships!
