Does anyone have any payment history on:
Renson Transport
2705 Slough St.
Mississauga, ON L4T1G2
905-673-2500

We did a shipment for them in Nov 2019 and has been promised that the cheque is in the mail since Jan 17. On Feb 7 we were told to wait a few more days for the cheque to arrive which is usually an indication that the AP person found the cheque haphazardly laying on their desk and they'll put it in the mail right away but are too embarrassed to tell the truth. A week later we are getting the run a-rounds - the dispatcher keeps hanging up on us, the AP person is never available and always at lunch.

If anyone has anything good to report please let us know, I don't want to run someone under the bus if it was a simple error. Otherwise be careful.

We have a record of 25 invoices since 2015. Average days of payment is 95 days. The latest invoice is at 96 days as of today. It is the last ever; DNU, DNU, DNU. Poor communication with A/P Dhanveer Chahal; never responds to our emails; phone calls go to the voice message with no replies. Hope it helps.

I spoke to an old dispatcher who worked there and ex-colleagues at a old brokerage where we use to give Renson a ton of loads, they confirmed that it shutdown yesterday.
Tracks with the information I got as well.

They abandoned a trailer in Detroit that was destined for Toronto and stated that they no longer had staff to clear the load.

It seems like in the last month or so that a lot of carriers are shutting down operations (or entering bankruptcy). Does anyone have an idea on the size of the carriers that have recently shut their doors?

No one of notable size has shut down, at least not to my knowledge.

Renson would be the biggest of the one's I've seen at approx. 75 drivers.

It usually the small guys, under 10 trucks who got into during covid. Or the scammers that just reopen under a different name.

In last 1 year you've had TransEmerge, True North Freight, Renson Transport, HBC Transportation, Gifft Express, EA logistics, Orbit, and a whole bunch smaller ones. Quite sad, seems it will only get worse over next 2 months with how slow inbound market is.

It can be large or small carriers, we've seem many large and small players who have been mismanaged close the doors over the years, blaming the economy or pandemic etc... but it isn't the economy, as many of us are still around weathering any storms that appear on the horizon... the main difference is the carriers still operating are managed better than the ones that failed.... There are still a ton of carriers in operation with POOR management / operational practices, they will be failing eventually... just takes time for the coffers to dry up. The well managed players are still here and going strong.

The only thing I am surprised to read is they lasted this long. I have been witness to their poor payment habits but they're aggressive collection tactics - This operation grew while office staff remained the same head count. Brining in students from India to drive trucks while paying for their "license". Then other staff with "safety manager" title to appease trucking mandates- but the staff had no idea of running hours, ELD or basic procedures. Again throwing a vetted safety consultant (Jeff) to the side due to money.

Outside of trucking - you can ask their previous landlord about their payment history for rent which costed them their previous location on Slough street. The poor payments didn't just stop there - it was to drivers and office staff as well. The owner S.C uses people to do the dirty work and just throws them aside when his wishes aren't met. His business partner R.H left a few years ago to start his own company due to non-payment and broken loan agreements, again facts as I was in contact with both for YEARS.

S.C started off humbly in 2013, under the guidance of R.H - R.H was his biggest asset as he had an amazing ability to connect with people from every walk of life, closing many deals but leveraging networks for success. S.c was always focused on growing the fleet, when it became un-ethical all the "non - family" members were thrown to the side, again out of habit.

I could go on and on, but looks like Karma caught up with Renson Transport.
Good ridance

I'm sure I saw a Renson tractor hauling a Haulage North America trailer in MIlton yesterday
