Scenario: Tire busted - slightly off rim...delivery 15 min away and tire shop 7 miles away. Do you driver to tire shop and get it fixed....technically you shouldn't.
When you call the mobile service will take three hours to get to you...so it's 7am in the morning and you decide you will drive the 7 miles...as soon as you move a cop pulls you over and gives you three tickets - and now you are waiting for mobile service...

what would you have done?

If the driver would have hit the tire with the hammer during pre ride inspection it wouldn't have happened! :)

you gambled and lost, 3 tickets seem extreme I would be fight them and maybe get it down to 1. On another note I can't say enough about having auto inflate on all of your equipment, we have a lot of equipment with super singles and has reduced tire calls probably 95%.

Love tire inflation systems. Our local tire tech, not so much. It's amazing how well they'll keep a tire inflated during transit. Most flats are found on day 2 of the trailer sitting in the yard. Our worst was 4 nails in one tire at a time. All slow leakers, yes good driver paying attention would have noticed the nail heads but that wasn't the case.

If the tire broke the bead I wouldn't have advised to go the 7 miles. Just flat and didn't break the bead....carry on driver!
Picture sent at 6:00am looked like was just a flat

It should not be a gamble. If asked, a good driver should refuse to move. Yes, it depends where it happened to a degree. But, if your company safety policy is serious about safety, you don't allow to move unsafe equipment as a policy across the board every time regardless weather you can get a way with cheating a bit or not. Most of the serious players theses days learnt the hard way over time and react on the side of the caution - flat, damaged, on or off the rim all the same. In the worst case scenario, you would have been down $1000 plus late delivery. What is your safety record worth to you? I am sure carrying a spare would have helped to make a right decision too.

True - it was not worth the gamble - not because of the tickets - but lesson learnt - never compromise on safety... all our equipment is well maintained and has monthly maintenance checks as well.... error in judgment is all I'm gonna say - not defend it
