Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problems with Canada Post mail delivery? Seems that invoices and cheques have a different delivery schedule than bills. For some strange reason when we call customers and other carriers to inquire on payment status either the invoice took three weeks to get to them or the cheque was mailed weeks ago and I haven't received it yet. At the same time I seem to be getting bills from other carriers that do work for me in approximately three days. Should I have a word with my mailman?

don't bother same thing over ,,cheques go through a much longer journey it seems, but bille and invoices get expedite service...bet the best part is customers don't realise we can read the post-mark,,,lol.

Here are a few tips straight from a longtime Canada Post employee I know. Just for those that did not know (and are interested).

Hand written mail - longer to process as it does not "scan" properly - can take close to a week to leave a depot - no one likes to manually process "chicken scratch" so it goes to the bottom of the pile.

Meter mail travels much quicker due to scanning than old fashioned stamps.

Envelopes with printed addresses (via computer) or even labels with a printed address - are scanned and are mailed out FIRST - before handwritten mail.

Window envelopes are usually in and out of Canada Post next business day with the exception of those missing a return address.

In summary - the "cleaner looking" your mail is - the quicker it gets to the other end. This is why BILLS usually arrive first - companies use window envelopes and preprinted return addresses - all shipping criteria for speedy delivery are met.

So there you go....

A good way to save a few bucks on postage is to address the envelope to yourself. Put the address of who you want to send it to in the upper left corner. Don't put a stamp on it and they will return it to who they think the sender is for postage due.

Tax returns are the one thing that actually get's delivered without the postage on it.

I think we have the same mailman. I was wondering why it takes 2 weeks from the time the customer says he mailed it to when it gets postmarked??

Have a client in Minneapolis that we send mail to on a weekly basis and they kept complaining that the mail was 2 weeks in coming and so to show them that it wasn't us playing the delay game, we sent them 3 letters on the same day.
1 with priority mail with delivery reciept (Can. Post) - $13.00
1 with regular mail (Can. Post) - $0.98
1 with purolator courrier - $29.00

Purolator was next day delivery
Regular mail was 9 days
Priority mail was 13 days.

We definately has issues with Canada Post but, other that $30.00 per, what other options are there?

Sigh....

it's hard to compare Mb to Mn to anywhere else maybe the dogs got tired or the flood waters were to high for them to swim through.
