I just called on a load from Chicago on Monday and the broker says he has to have a plate trailer that is completely smooth on the inside. It can have no logistics pots and the wall have to be steel?

Is this even possible? Has anyone heard of such an animal? It was a load of new cans is what he was saying. Now I know we have hauled hundreds of loads of cans and never had a broker tell me this. I was going to argue the point with buddy but figured as I was not sure I would ask.

Do the make an frp style smooth interior plate van?

How would you secure anything, our plates have logistics posts every 4 feet which means you can never double deck but are there for load securement. I'm thinking this maybe one of those CSR's you are talking about on another post.

I'm thinking that the person was told that nothing can be jutting out of the wall ... that would make sense on a load of cans in particular because any jut is going to damage product.

Pretty sure I know who the shipper is ... they were actually moving this stuff by intermodal for a while and probably had problems with CN cans damaging their cans ...

Just tell this broker that you have this type of trailer and make sure your driver inspects the interior to make sure there is no damage or metal jutting out from the side walls. It will save you A LOT of time and headaches rather than trying to explain to this this guy what "plate trailer" means.
