Does anyone have any experience with this carrier out of Abbotsford, BC? They are looking to move some freight for us. Any info good or bad is appreciated.

Am I wrong?

Arrived on time to pick up an oversize load, then claimed they couldn't get the permits (but the other load was picked up and gone no problem). They didn't even bother to let us know, we had to wait until the shipper called saying they were closing up and this guy is still sitting here.

So now we make all the arrangements to reschedule cranes / manpower etc, delay installations because he's late. Then they want to charge 2 grand extra because he did not have the proper sized tarps and the wind got up underneath them and made holes from rubbing against the machine.

Am I wrong in thinking this is not my fault? Had he left when he was supposed to, he wouldn't be in the wind storm, if he had the proper tarps that were long enough, the wind wouldn't get underneath? Is tarps not part of the cost of doing flat bed / over sized business? Is that not why they charge extra for tarps?

Maybe this should be in the moan n groan section? LOL

Have used Pilot on a few loads - mainly dealt with Derek - no problems at all - great service. As for permits - do you not think that maybe the other truck had an annual permit or pre-ordered a permit? I for one will not pre-order permits anymore because most shippers could not read a measuring tape if their life depended on it.
When I have to amend or buy new permits nobody wants to pay and they tell me I should have waited till I got my own measurements. As for the tarp situation - if the machine had been properly packaged for shipping - there most likely would have been no tarp tearing problems.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Well 2 of the same loads.. 1 guy has nothing but problems, permit excuses are changing, It's Derick taking care of it, no it's Kevin taking care of that, back n forth, and I have to call over and over again because they refuse to give updates.. And I don't mean I'm calling every 10 minutes, I mean he says he needs an hour, I give him 2-3 hours before I call to find out what's going on.

The other guy has 0 problems. no ripped tarps, no permit issues.

I understand what you are saying for the permits, but at the same time they should have ordered what he needed in advance to at least get going. He could have thrown in the clause that if the dims don't match we have to pay for new permits on the 3 or 4 states he pre-ordered. When you have cranes & riggers & engineers & installers all waiting for this to show up, a couple hundred bucks "insurance" if there's a problem with the permits I don't think is an issue. Then they should not have waited until Friday afternoon to check up on the permits. They had all the info from Tuesday and did nothing for the permits until Friday afternoon (other than submit them). But that's not their fault. 1st it was the permit company dropped the ball and now the excuse is the state's server was down... but he was able to log on and try to submit his own permit ?!?! Interesting server issue...

If there is a problem with tarping the machine, he just has to say so and then we work on a solution. If he had the right tarps like the other guy, then he wouldn't have had a problem. Lucky for him they don't want bill for the machines to be re-painted or anything LOL
