It has come to my attention that many carriers are not sending their invoices in a timely manner. We send reminders via fax but still we are waiting on several invoices from the first half of December.

We have the PODs in house but no invoices....Is anyone else having the same problems? We have already exceeded 30 days since delivery on some of these shipments.

It is scary how long it takes people to get their invoicing out the door. If ours is not out within 3 days of delivery I'm raising bloody hell. That is the only way to keep the cash flowing because most people pay from date recieved so if you do not get your invoices out for 15 days you would be 45 days with a good payer 75 to 90 days with a bad payer. It would be interesting to see some of they people complaining on this site as to when they actually sent the invoice?

Same here. I was helping out today with POD's and was calling on loads that were delivered in November. Unreal.

Most carriers send their invoices out within 5 days of delivery; however, a significant minority take 15 days or more. And if you're not careful that will reflect in your days to pay. This is why I always keep the postmarked envelopes that the invoice comes in...just in case there's a dispute.

Agreed, most carriers are great (especially if you accept invoices/POD's by email). Some invoice on day 30 then call the next day for payment...

Sometimes and only with some factoring companies we do see delay (sometimes long) in getting an invoice and POD.

What is interesting is the trips that are 'never' invoiced...

Keep well,

Mike

Well, I guess we are not alone!
It is especially scary with the smaller companies that just take forever. I accept mail, fax or email---just make sure it is sent!
Cheers!

We are in the same boat, we get calls from carriers looking for payment but didnt get the POD (which my customers require for their billing) until two to three weeks later. I always advise them that I start my aging when I get the POD and Invoice. I agree with Lowmiler, I would like to see when some of these carriers actually sent out the invoices and PODs before requesting payment.
