Hi everyone, figured I would see what options we might have as there is some deck guys on here, and our work is mostly vans:

Customer has some E350 Vans with a bucket lift on them they need shipped from GTA to various locations across Canada. The length of each is 25 feet, height of 10' 1", and width of 6.5 feet. An suggestions as to what equipment will work for this? does it make more sense to put 1 each on a drop deck, or is it possible to load the height of 10' 1" on the deck of a regular flat bed with 2 vans, would a permit be required at that point I am guessing? Are 53' Flats rare heading out west? What overhang is allowed on the front or back of a deck to safely transport?

Any help would be appreciated.

Loading them on a flat bed would be crazy in Ontario. It would work well in Western Canada but in Ontario it would take alot of unnecessary work as permits for every city, county and municipality would be required.

Ontario may tell you to "go to hell" when you apply as they can be loaded on a lower trailer and be legal. Ontario allows ZERO overhang on a multiple piece load when the pieces are loaded end to end on 53' trailers, zero and of course - they have zero tolerance for this.

We went through the same sort of challenge for a customer. At the end of the day it made best financial sense to drive the equipment to the various locations and fly the drivers home. With the seat sales going on at Porter and Westjet, it was a no brainer. It seems too easy I know.:)
