original customs paperwork (PARS)

Here is the URL that shows the requirements:

Driver has had problem again this past week-end and was told by the officer that they did not require to stamp the PARS; the stamping of the manifest was enough proof. Driver explained that it is not what he was told but the female officer would not hear any other way so she did not stamp the PARS Invoice.

Its unfortunate that we have to ask the drivers to be in the middle of this but when this happens I instruct the driver to go to the secondary inspection and ask to speak to the superintendent/supervisor at the port. This usually gets a positive result.
This weekend I had the same problem at Ambassador bridge. I called the supervisor directly and he told me that if the driver specifically requests it the officer should stamp it but if the officer does/will not, then proceed to the secondary inspection to get it stamped. There will be no issue if the driver is required to do this. The secondary at Ambassador is just to the left of the primary booths.
At Sarnia, the driver is sometimes directed to secondary if they have a bunch of PARS but generally have no issues if there are one or two.
If you wish, call the supervisor at the port where you had the issue and ask him to describe the process so you can do everything correct. They will ask for the manifest number and can look up the officer who refused and speak to them directly.
