Does anyone have any history with Onyx Freight-Works Inc. out of Burlington, ON? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
 
It's been a while since I talked to them over there. Did some repetitive work, always went smooth and always got paid. Decent too they would rather work with a truthful carrier then give the freight to the cheapest bidder.
 
Like the other guys here, it has been a while since I have dealt with them. Last was in mid-2008, but my experience was not so trouble free...

After leaving three unreturned messages for payment status, I started to hound them and finally got to speak to Mike and he of course said the cheque was mailed a week and a half ago. After another week and a half went by (now 3 weeks after he reportedly mailed chq) I called and got general voicemail, never a good sign when calling to collect bills. I left them a message stating I would be contacting the shipper, receiver, and their customer regarding non-payment of the freight bill.

I was contacted the next day and given the same "cheque's in the mail" story. I was able to force him into stopping payment on the fictitious cheque that never arrived, and I had to send someone to his residence where he had the cheque taped to his mailbox.

Pretty weird experience. Maybe things have changed, maybe not. I will never know because I won't bother with them.

Have delt with Mike for over three years, smaller company but always pays and doesnt rape you over the coals for rates. Good company to deal with!
 
Any recent payment trends for this company? I went searching on here and found myself going for a trip down memory lane from nearly 13 years ago...

I have an invoice that is now over 50 days and I can see my co-worker emailed them nearly two weeks ago with no response.
 
I tried calling too. The extension for A/P says the mailbox is not monitored and says to send email instead, which I have already done.
 
Did work earlier this year/last year. Worked with Mike & Melissa; an absolute pleasure.
Cheque received before investigations.

Thanks guys, I sent my email to both. Mentioned that I will need to be in touch with the customer soon if I don't hear back.
 
Well, I heard back from the other person, but it's not what I was hoping for...

I've been told my cheque will be cut upon Mike's return... I checked the 'out of office' reply I received, and it looks like he won't be back until next Thursday.

By that point, my invoice will be well over 60 days and with the experience I had the last time, I don't think I'm willing to wait.

I've been provided with a Cell number for Mike and I'll be using that now.
 
I wrote the other person back and also left a message on Mike's cell to notify them that I was not willing to wait until next Thursday and would be in contact with the customer if I did not hear back.

The other person wrote me back and said I could pickup the cheque right away.

It was a case of deja vu all over again... haahahaa... I drove to Burlington and there was my cheque taped to the door... Actually it fell onto the floor... Only difference was they upgraded from the residential address from last time and they were in a fancy corporate multi-business building.

Funny thing was, the outside of the envelope was labelled "Jonny Chicken"... haahahaa... :D

Payment received at 57 days...
