The problem I'm having is that when the LTL is small, Bourassa and some of the others are good but when it's more than 3 skids it is very inconsistent ... LTL carriers are very pricey and the partial load carriers are priced. Cooper's price is the lesser of the evils.

OH isn't that hot of a destination for large LTL. I've never met anyone that would do consistent LTL larger than 6 skids from Oh to Mtl.

Interpalco would be my first option as they do great work for me.
 
I originally thought it was 10 feet, 16000# to be rated as 16ft. But I had a brain fart and I realize it needs 20 feet. It's not so easy to move 20 feet on that lane.
 
I would avoid Bourassa Transport ( the tend to back solicit and play dumb ) .
TED Transport is a solid option, or Charette Transport.
 
I've actually never heard of Bourassa back-soliciting before. And I know that they've been used by companies I have been with for at least 10 years. The service is OK but the rates from them get stupid once the freight is larger than 4 skids. Not unlike Polaris or others with the same operating model.
 
I have to agree with theman on this one, at least 10-15 orders a month with them (Bourassa) and no issues on back-soliciting.
On the greater than 4 skids - take the time to reach out to your carriers anyway - both Polaris and Bourassa may have 'room' for larger shipments and may be able to do it for at or close to your budget. Depends on the lane, the time of year and the freight mix they have, but we've hooked up with both parties on larger shipments (although not regularly).

We service northern Ohio with our own US fleet, so depending on the pick up location and the regularity of the business, we are likely more price competitive than you might imagine.

It's happened twice to me , not sure if they intended to or not but it did happen. Not sure if having customers based in Quebec was the reason for it and they do have sales people on the road . Not a huge customer to us so I don't really care either way, since they did give me better rates than the gave our customer....
 
It could be that the sales rep already has a relationship with them. Salespeople move around so maybe they came from someone else who was already doing business with them. But again ... no issues with them in that regard.
