Normerica Logistics Corp

So many of you know that I am not in the industry any longer but I still keep somewhat engaged. The largest bankruptcy by far that I had with a customer in over 20 years in the industry was a competitor of Normerica created by people who used to work there.

Remember ... you are basically hauling bagged dirt with very little value. So basically nothing pays nothing ... it shouldn't really surprise anyone that Normerica treats the carriers like crap.

That said, they are a profitable company that has been a going concern for a long time - so you will get paid, but you'll be treated like the dirt you are hauling. Maybe if there is freight going to destinations where you specifically want to position yourself, fine. But just to move trucks ... probably not.

When I hauled for the competitor, I wanted the intermodal freight but in order to get it I needed to help them out on the OTR movements. It was never highly profitable but if they would have paid us it still made business sense only because once you have an account to babysit, it doesn't matter if you are moving one load or twenty, it's the same work essentially on the administrative side. Just not dispatch ...

still not worth chasing after big $$ like that, Apollo is the same way, drop as many trailers as you can when they need you but when it comes time to paying, they r no where to be found ....idk

I worked for them for a few years as a broker. One word.............NIGHTMARE!!! Always going 60 day beyond our 30 day terms at minimum. Always a pain to get any waiting time, loads cancelling as trucks arrive from Calgary to load in Lethbridge. We cut them off while the logistics manager was on holidays. He wasn't all that happy when he came back. They also treat their staff like garbage.
