Looking to do tractor service for a big carrier - just had a few quick questions if someone could help me out:

1) would I give them the original POD and bill of lading or would I give the photocopy to them and attach those two when I am doing my invoicing couple days later..

You should keep the original and send them photo-copies if they request. They may demand originals. If they do and you want to protect yourself from possible trouble down the road have them sign a document that says that they have requested original documents as a condition of payment but that they will accept photo-copies in leiu of originals in the event of future disputes.

It's a matter of personal preference.

For the majority, I only give photocopies. When payment is received I will mail them the originals if requested.

For ongoing regular carriers I will send them the originals, but only after having built a rapport and payment history with them. You don't have to worry about getting paid from large reputable carriers, and there are alot of them out there.
