Anyone know anything about this outfit ... good, bad, or indifferent ???

We've been taking loads from them for about a year. No issues, they communicate well, pay waiting time, etc if any issues. Rates are what they should be. Averaging 44 days to pay.

Booked a load with them on Aug. 6th picking up down in Lakeshore, ON loading on Aug. 9th at 2:00pm, we ran the truck all the way from Hamilton and at 11:50am get a call saying the load has cancelled and that they now need a stepdeck instead, by this time the truck is already in Chatham and ends up having to come all the way back to Hamilton.

So 290 miles I gave a rate of $790.00 to cover the expenses and pay the driver, which I think is pretty fair. But Sean says the max is $275.00 !!!!!!!! Get real, that doesn't even cover the cost of fuel let alone drivers wages for a whole days work. He throws this number out because of the fact that the same customer previously cancelled another one of these on us, and as explained at the time, the truck had only made it to Woodstock before having to return to Hamilton, and per mile both rates work out the same. But what really irks me is the fact that they won't even get the customer on the phone to throw the rate I gave them and explain why it's so much (due to the number of miles travelled). Surely Nationwide wouldn't run one of their own trucks that distance for $275.00 but expect another carrier to do it?

I always thought that part of the role of being a load broker is to go to bat for the carriers in situations like this, is it not????

End of rant now.
