So I had customer A with 1 skid from GTA to Garden state in Newark NJ , customer B had 5 skids Mississauga to Newark refrigerated in Newark NJ. Found a carrier to run 2 picks, 2 drops. How hard can it be.... Really hard, had to reschedule all 4 appts 3 times.... I don't know how LTL carriers make all their appts work. I won't be looking to do this again.

No, no, no. Don’t say that! If you want to be a successful freight broker, you should always be looking to do the impossible for your customers. Anybody can do the easy stuff and there will always be somebody willing to do it for a few dollars less. So if you want to stick around for a few years and hopefully make a few bucks while you’re at it, don’t shy away from the tough stuff. You will establish relationships with some good carriers and your customers will be reluctant to stray. A win, win in my books.

Yup.. embrace the hard stuff and become good at it. As for me.. I'm currently dealing with a load of rail from Ankara, Turkey with four stops on it.. Newark, NJ.. Montreal, QC... London, ON, Woodstock, ON.. fun fun fun..

Seriously though, there has GOT to be somewhere somewhat more local than Turkey to find these rails. :)

I'm sure there is.. but I only see my little piece of the puzzle.. quite likely the Turks gave my customer a bargain (they buy and sell steel globally).. maybe a little shmoozing and backroom dealing going on...

skids were delivered this morning. Of course had about a 6hr delay at the border with one of the shipments which was unusual for this customer, but all good. They will be charged and carrier paid for the delay.

Now, on to the next impossible task!! Nothing better than happy customers, and of course....paid carriers!!
