MTB International-Toronto

I haven't done a load with them in a couple of years but they used to pay very quickly almost COD. But anything can change in a couple of years.

Yes, you are right, it changed in couple of years because I have done a load for them OK - ON, delivered without any problem and we were supposed to get paid on that in 15 days as per Doug in dispatch, when we called about payment after 30 days the guy in A/P Vince said they don't have money right now to pay and they are waiting for financing from the bank, but don't even have any idea when its gonna be. Then we tried to contact their customer who we delivered load to and they asked me to send an email regarding this non payment issue. The very next morning I got an email from William Masters (Owner of MTB Intl. ) as this ``Good morning Harry
This invoice was just brought to my attention…

I will have a cheque cut for this file today…
As per the file, there was no agreement made for 15 days. Regardless of the fact, I know that the file is now over 40 days. The reason payment was late was that, yes, we are running behind because of a change of ownership within the business. I am now the sole owner, and Greg Shears is no longer a partner. We are still cleaning up things after the transfer. Things are fine, and everything is getting back on track.

Your cheque will be sent out today…

Thank you
William Masters ``

It was on Monday Apr 19, 2010 but since then I'm still waiting as now they are not responding to emails as well.

Everyone I suggest to be carefull working with these people.

good luck bro !

Scotty ...

I know from years ago that they're not great to deal with but not fly by night either. I'm sure this is a produce load, no?

Roca -- if they're brokering exempty commodities (produce), the MC# rule doesn't apply.

well he should still have an MC but you're right the Bond can't be claimed for produce, exempt commodities, etc.

Roca (GRoch) you sure are on this MC number thing is that because
double brokering oops sorry co brokering is better than a trucking company selling off their extra freight. I have an MC number but no bond and I do sell of excess freight. Maybe I should call G Roch and they can co broker it................

Well I believe there is a difference, if your customer is advised and agrees with you "selling excess freight", but if they aren't aware then it is double brokering...

That's from what I understand...

And the MC number is so we can easily search the company and see if there are any reports against them... systems are good for that... people who double broker eventually get caught and it costs them...

And don't refer to me as G Roch, I have never seen any wrong doings from them, that's why I take their side often, they have never stiffed anyone I know and pay quickly too!

Not all carriers excess freight is brokered freight some of us have or own freight. I was under a misunderstanding I thought you were GRoch sorry about that. I find it hard to believe why anybody would stand up for for them and their double brokering ways. Why do you think it is okay to (co broker) double dipping is double dipping - why would anyone sell them selves short and work for less so some guy in Montreal can get rich..

well from what I understand they have access to a lot of freight, some freight that some of us can't access... maybe I'm wrong...

This thread has gone off tangent here...it started as "NON PAYING" and under the appropriate heading - but has now gone off course.

Rob/Roca - your current posts and points noted should carry on under a new thread and different header please.

Thank you

Mtb

We have an invoice 90 Days.
Spoke with Vince in A/P for the last month.... promises, promises.
Sent an e mail to Mr Masters today.
We will be calling their customer in Holland Landing, I.m sure they paid MTB long ago.
Being told they just don.t have the money and there will be no cheque in the near future.... is poor ethics.
I will let you know when Mr. Master replies.

Mtb

Issued a cheque ... partial payment.

$200 when he can ... that's as good as it gets.
At this rate it will take them 2 years or more to pay an invoice.

We dealt with MTB for some time now, and have never had a problem until now.

Perhaps cash flow will get better for them soon.

farmerscotty,

They don't stay in business - wait for the papers. Soon someone will be wondering where have they gone because the phones are cut off. So many times we see on this site - people happy to being paid in 50 days but it starts to creep out farther and farther. Eventually you can only play the game so long and the strangle hold is in place so you burn everyone because they are all at 60 to 100 days. That is why if you have someone who pays in 30 days - take good care of them because everyone seems to think it's okay to be at 45 days. When in reality they are using you for a bank because guess what - banks won't give them a cent so why should you.
