Can anyone recommend a reliable and honest carrier to service Montreal to Laredo, TX in US Bond. One that can also offer team service when needed and not use every BS excuse in the book to explain their delays. We have been servicing this lane for a client of ours for 4 years, and have gone through about 10 different carriers...no one can seemingly handle delivering on time....go figure.

Thanks in advance!

pq - laredo

try chantler transport out of barrie, i know they have teams and a laredo terminal with US drivers..

Chantler

I would read some of the other posts about Chantler in the Payment Terms/Credit History - bad payer thread about them. As a broker, I don't do business with carriers who are very late payers to other carriers.

Hi Activet,
i agree, i check carrier's credit ratings just as often as customers'. A carrier with bad financials if going to have to cut corners somewhere unfitunately.

Carriers

Find it strange that you are having trouble covering this lane properly, it is much saught after by the larger carriers based out of Montreal.
To add to the previous list, try; Transport Charette/RPR from Sainte Martine PQ, Bourret out of Drummondville and lastly Groupe Robert from Boucherville.
All have extensive fleets , are US Bonded and are presently servicing this lane.

I am suprIsed that you can not find a good carrier to Laredo from Montreal especially lately as freight for the most part is scarce. If the rate is good, you should have no problem getting the proper service. Generally you get what you pay for.

I do service Texas in either van and reefers regularly, in single for the most part. Team service is only good in reefer or on Hazmat and only at this time of the year until about may but I do not get involved in team serviced lanes. (you can call the reefer comanies like Trans-west, Leger, Intermark..., in dry van try Travelers, Challenger)

Afterwards in may it becomes a money losing situation as rates drop on the inbound to Canada.

Hi Alx,
its not difficult to cover, but all these bigger fleets dont provide any assurances and are so full of red tape and excuses. We were hoping to find a smaller company, who would appreciate the business, communicate openly and directly and not make excuses on each load.

Hi Boss
Try Andy Transport based in Dorval
514-420-0444 contact is Rejean. One of my best carrier so far. they have team, CTPAT certified and can you US bond as well.
They are not the cheapest, but they are really, really good.
We use them on a regular basis.

If it was not bonded loads, I would suggest STL Transport in Mississauga. They go to TX on a regular basis, and have team, but not US bonded so...

Hope this help

To the boss

I understand your dilema. The problem here is that the carrier has to be of a certain size to offer as US bond and then again to offer team service and only when required ( usually at the last minute).
I also recommend ANDY from Dorval, although I did not know he was US Bonded. Try Maisliner and ask for JJ.

We use our Ontario partners that end up in Montreal more often than not on this type of stuff -- but I would think that SGT and CAT are the best bets. If price sensitive, I'd say the reefer guys like Leger, Star Van etc.
