Hi All,

I am seeing a very strange trend today and curious as to if anyone else is experiencing this? Firstly, as many of you may know, Polaris had a major system issue and was down this morning. I also can't access our insurance certificate booking site as they are down. Another client just emailed me that they can't produce customs docs as their system is down. All unrelated unless they all reside on AWS or Microsoft Azure servers or something similar maybe?

The internet is groaning under the weight of people at home watching youtube videos and other stuff..
That is true but I am talking about systems being down. If they are web based, they would be slower but not down. The Beer Store also had a cyber attack today and was only accepting cash in a time they should not be. This is the perfect time for cyber data hostages and hackers to take advantage of people while they are down.

Ok, now I just tried to log into my TD online banking and got this message:
"We are currently experiencing systems issues due to an external interruption, support teams are working to restore services as quickly as possible. This is a service interruption issue which we are monitoring closely."
WTF?

there are so many service providers involved in internet today, we had problems last week with our phones because somebody we never heard of couldn't get employees in to fix the problem. It seems there are at least 3 or 4 companies running our system at least but we only deal with one. the strangest thing is they all have to use Bell lines so not sure why we can't get the same price from Bell and just deal with them direct.

lowmiler88,

My wife happens to work at an IT Wholeseller. Part of a conglomerate of companies that do just about everything IT related. I could go on for days about the inner workings but in short, from what I understand is they commit to a certain volume of business to Bell (annually) and they receive faster response time when there are service issues. The wholeseller can actually give you better service and faster response time than Bell would give you directly because they are a bigger customer to Bell.

If your issue was outside the building crews should stll be working on that. If your issue was inside your server room, someone should be able to walk you through troubleshooting, if your issue is in your phone system, someone should be able to log in remotely, check it out and even import a backup of your profile should it be corrupted.

My wife would have phrased everything above much better than I, but she would be nice about it when she corrected me.

Keep well, keep healthy, keep safe,
Mike :)

The people having problems are all on IP Phones? As the world wide interweb becomes more and more taxed, something has to give. Netflix has reduced video quality as demand has spiked when everyone is stuck in the house.

Keep well, keep healthy, keep safe,
