being buttered up is not the perogative of the young... I get it all the time!!!! It depends on how desperate the caller is to try & get me to drop my rate
I always love coming back to this thread just to read all the posts because it is good for a few chuckles on a stressful day. I am female and I get the honey / sweetie / dear from both male and female dispatchers. It has never gotten "annoying" or over the top so I just ignore it. I don't call others honey or dear but that is my personal choice.
If it REALLY bothers someone, they can very easily tell the other person to stop.
I'd much rather be called honey and deal with someone that seems interested (ulterior motive or not) than some of the ones that I call that are expressionless, emotionless or rude.

Stress is a common denominator through the world of work..we shouldn't conclude that our industry is more stressful than any other...police officers, teachers, nurses, and construction workers might be quick to disagree that transportation is more stressful than what they do is.
But I wouldn't rank flirting as something that irritates me..it is what it is...hey..look at the glass as half full..flirting is better than farting!
