This question is for the brokers out there.

When a carrier needs to hook up with link, they need to provide all of our information, like authorities, DOT, MC and Insurance info, etc.

What information do they ask from a broker?

I'm curious because I called link this morning regarding missing info from Titan Transline's profile, and the answer I got from customer service is that the broker is not obligated to provide that info to link.

That's a great question. Why doesn't Link ask for more info from its broker subscribers? They should at least get the brokers MC# if they are brokering freight that originates in the US. Perhaps they could ask if the broker is a member of any trade associations, TIA, NTBA. Asking for the Trust bank account number might be pushing it, as there are quite a few reputable brokers, that for reasons of their own, do not operate with a trust account.

I'd avoid Titan Transline if I were you - it's Marty Chartrand from Overtime Express and before that CF Eagle.

Link

Doesn't that just figure. When I called them a couple weeks ago to complain about one of their fine upstanding customers Victoria told me that they have a rigourous screening process in place to weed out all of the bad apples. I was told that any and all customers are required to provide articles of incorporation, references, banking information etc.

Ah just love the link

Booked a couple of loads with him by mistake. Didn't know about the cf Eagle connection at that time

Marty should move to Brampton. He would fit right in there.

I love how people like him can just make up new companies after running up their debts on the old companies. How is this not illegal? He is on his third company (at least) in the last 3 years.

There is only one answer to this...................MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!!!!!! There are WAY more brokers than carriers.

brokers do need articles of incorporation and resolutions to get on link. they can't get on without them.

without a trust or surety bond you can't have an MC, if you don't have an MC you are supposed to broker US freight or US-CDN freight...

A surety bond is required for obtaining a US Property Brokers Authority (MC#). A trust account is only required in the Province of Ontario (a provision of the Highway Traffic Act). The trust account would apply to brokers based in Ontario.
