I would ask that all carriers join me in boycotting Kelron Logistics/Distribution, they firmly believe that it is fair to pay a truck trailer and driver 75 dollars to sit for 8 hours....simply justified by the fact that they don't believe "they can get any more from their customer". I do believe they have not yet made the connection that occassionally they may need to take money out of their own pockets rather than the carriers.

Perhaps if they have difficulty finding trucks, they may learn that trucks are a necessary part of the business they conduct. To those brokers who are fair and equitable, keep up the good work.

On my DNU list
Sugestion add on a dollar amount to your conformation sheet for wait times
Industry standard / wait time starts after 2HRS
Remember to call them after the 2 HRS advise them of what is happening and send a fax copy for them to send back to you
I have found that a paper trail works best names of contact personel and positions held
Hope this helps you out

Not the smartest people either

took a load recently from their Vancouver office, they are just a bunch of college kids or something, picked up the load in mid-west going to windsor, they called tracing, told them truck in Kalamazoo,Mi, asked me if I could spell Kalamazoo, just told him to figure it out for himself, called back a couple of hours later asking for location of truck, told him driver was at the San Diego border waiting to cross, He said thanks for the update. Had no clue about the geography of this country. Why do they let these people work in this industry.

On our DNU list for a long time. Take a good look at their contract before you sign it. Thats why they are on our DNU list we won't sign it.

What were the circumstances?

Kelron is one of my competitors, so I've got no incentive to defend them, but I would like to know what the circumstances around the 8 hours waiting time. There's always another side to the story. I'm curious why did the driver have to wait? Did he miss an appointment, did the driver notify Kelron when a problem was evident? Can you explain exactly what happend?

If your going to slag them, then let's hear the whole story.

Pablo,
Simple explanation - load required CFIA meat inspection, only appointment Kelron could book was 8 hours prior to delivery appointment, instead of timing inspection appointment to coincide with delivery appointment. I requested 50 per hour to cover my detention time, but instead was told that 12.50 per hour was considered fair for a truck, trailer and driver, and was not open to negotiation.

Pablo....as a broker to a carrier....am I over reacting to being compensated 12.50 per hour for truck, trailer and driver?

I agree 12.50 sucks

We walked away from that business years ago. We wouldn't accept 12.50 and there was no way we were going to tell a carrier we were going to pay only 12.50. On top of that they want thursday pick ups from Chicago area with a Monday delivery and don't want to pay extra to run the reefer on the weekend. The loads have frequent inspections which take 8 hours that they're not willing to pay for either. Basically, if I think it's unreasonable, there's no way were going to try and sell it to a carrier. Even in this economy, there's lots of freight out there, there's no need to agree to unreasonable rates just to move some freight. Our long term relationships with our carriers are more important that a single customer.

Everytime someone agrees to this type of thing it just perpetuates it. They only get a way with it because people agree to it.

Profit and losses

I guess Kelron won't share their profits but have no problem sharing their losses. If it was me I would sue the broker, shipper and reciever. I would get my waiting time.

I am quite shocked to hear all the negativity about Kelron.

I haven't had very many dealings with them, but the ones I have had have gone smoothly enough. Maybe because I am only doing local loads?

Any updates on Kelron lately?

Boycotts

How many days do you think companies like CH / Kelron / Traffic Tech would last if we all just stopped taking loads from them? I know we hear this all the time and to think that we could all work as one to not take any of their loads even for a week - wishful thinking -dream on I know - but would that not completely cripple their ability to move freight - I know there are good brokers out there that we could use to replace the freight - especially inbound right now - and what about their customers - not being able to move loads for a week - ooooppps sorry I am awake now back to reality.

Hahahaha!
