I am looking for general information on what the going rate is for junior dispatchers and what they are expected to do as opposed to a customer service rep.

Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

Our Junior Dipatchers are required to trace all shipments and data Entry. When we are busy they help with booking loads. Their Starting salary is $45,000 per year plus bonuses

You get what you pay for. If you have the funds $45,000 is a good starting pay. If I offered my senior dispatchers $45,000 they would laugh. They are paid $65,000-$75,000

Dispatcher wages

This is a difficult question to answer, the remuneration should be based on the tasks that the individual is required to master.

I believe, the larger the transport company, the less complex the dispatcher's task and the less versatile he/she must be. The salary should be commensurate.

If the dispatcher's tasks include acquiring freight from load boards and other sources, the salary must reflect the value added.

Around the Montreal area, dispatcher's start around $35,000.00 for entry level candidates.

I would suggest between $70,000 to $90,000.00 for senior dispatchers with peddling ability.

A senior dispatcher/peddler is indeed a rare animal. He/she must be able to visualize the entire fleets freight needs and plan the routing and scheduling in order to maximize revenue.

I personally have encountered very few people that can master that task.

I would gladly pay top dollar for anyone with those abilities.

Sorry I am not hiring at the moment

Just joking.

As for alx , I agree with you on your figures. Starts roughly at about $35,000 for little experience. But I have seen companies offer as low as $28,000 (ex. Traffic Tech).

As for the senior levels I rarely saw positions passed the 65k mark, as we are going more into managing positions. But then again it's all about the title you give to the position.

$28,000.00 equates to $13.50/hr. Timmys or Walmart or Mickie D's will pay that. Gotta be awful deparate to get into this game for those wages.
$45-$50K seems more in line with junior dispatcher salaries.

I agree with you. But then again - when you speak with some of the dispatchers in the bigger logistics companies - they have no clue what they are talking about. And sometimes they don't deserve that much more.

It's all about the company culture you choose to have.

The bigger brokers ( employee wise ) hire people with no experience so its cheap. Traffic tech might be a well known company, but I do not know anyone who would go work for those weasels.

I start out by offering all candidates 15K per year...and after six months (if you're really good) I boost it to 80K plus bonuses..and if you're not REALLY good I fire you...It's an arrangement that has worked well for me as I don't waste money on non performers..

I agree with Shakey. The salary for this position in Quebec will not be anywhere close to that of someone say from Alberta. Cost of living has a lot to play here and I think it is important to know what province your from to determine a fair salary.
