Good day,

I booked a load with Robbie in dispatch Sun, March 3/13 in Edmonton, AB. Load was picked-up Sunday as planned shortly after 5:30pm driver arrives. This morning none of thier phone lines are working: 855-634-6344/ 905-789-6344/ Cell: 416-689-0270. The main lines say phones not in service and the cell# say you are calling a Rogers customer with no voice mail setup. Sent and email and no response. Driver has not shown to delivery location in BC and has not called. So either driver is having problems or Jas Heavy Haul shut down business last night.

If anyone has any news about Jas Heavy Haul, reply back please. I hope all is ok. Up to now, they have always done a very good job for our company.

Are you still getting no answer, if so, what general area are you based in, and what address do you have for JAS.

Yeah no answer on land lines and cell phones. So I called Rogers Wireless and they said the account was closed last night. If they were doing a phone system upgrade, when I emailed: info@jasheavyhaul.com and jassheavyhaul@gmail.com I would have a reply back that they are going thru a phone upgrade. Here is where it gets interesting. I called the insurnace broker who said their insurance expired Feb 13, 2013 and not renewed. The insurance broker is emailing my info to the producer of the insurance who might know Jas Heavy Haul on a personal level. I called her back and asked her to add me to the emails, not sure if they will. My dispatch system shows 05/13/2013, so we made a typo otherwise it would have prompted me to get their updated insurance. My policy # on file all matches the broker info and the info on the Link. I called the Link and account is still active. After I send this I am sending an email to the link complaints to advise of this situation. The Jas Heavy Haul website is still operating, I called the web company who said they have not spoken to anyone at Jas Heavy Haul for 9 months. He said he heard they might be moving but no one called him from Jas Heavy Haul so the web guy never called him. The address I have on file is 59 Donwood Court, Brampton, ON L6P 1T6. The Link shows : Jas Heavy haul, 201-26 Automatic Road. Brampton, ON. Just before typing this, I called a local carrier in Edmonton to ask if they know of Jas Heavy Haul and if know where their Edmonton yard, the Husband did and they just texted me the address and tel# to the yard in Edmonton. They only had an apartment in Edmonton and rented some space at a yard in Edmonton. I am in Edmonton myself. I called and the guy would not say to much but that rent last month was not paid. There might be a trailer in the Edmonton yard but he has not spoken to them today. Our phone #'s matched up. It is looking more and more like they have shut down. The only think I was is to locate this Unit #1007 or some tractor with a step deck full of gear/ equipment that is supposed to go to BC.

Just rec'd a call from Raj @ Jas Heavy Haul, turns out Robbie's Mother in India passed away last night. It was Robbie's younger brother who had this load and when he found out about the passing, turned and returned trailer to Edmonton. Trying to verify it currently location and sorting this. Thanks for the replies.

It still does not justify making a phone call to you. How many times has "mom passed " scenerio been used when the police are at the door?

They still have no insurance!!

I agree.. It still sounds fishy. No insurance...phone cancelled that very same night? We would probaby all like to know when that freight shows up on the shippers dock again. We've got our fingers crossed for you!

The load was found. Robbie the dispatcher's younger brother was the driver who brought the load back to Edmonton or maybe he never left Edmonton, I will know. After my investigation Monday I found out where they store there trailers at Whiterock Landscape supplies in Edmonton. I was about to go investigate myself but I had one of our regular carriers, 1 man owner operator and he was 15 km from the yard. When I explained the situation he offered to check it out. Within 15 minutes or less he was at the yard where he found the load. There was a tractor attached but a driver in the truck, not sure who it was. Raj from Jas Heavy Haul offered that we could just use the trailer. So driver that was in cab pulled tractor away so my owner operator could connect. But first my owner operator took his trailer to his own yard about 20 minutes away. My owner operator connected to Jas Heavy Haul trailer (yes, he confirmed trailer was registered and current, all was good with the trailer) and delivered the load shortly after 12:30am this morning. We could have had the load cross loaded but it would have wasted a bunch of time on an urgent load. Raj from Jas Heavy Haul felt really bad how this all came down. But still some things don't add up like the insurance issue, cancelled cell phones, main lines not working, and cheque for their yard rent bounced last month. Once the owner op I booked load with returns the trailer, I will have a conversation with Raj and hopefully Robbie when he returns from India. At this point, I will give him the time to grieve his mothers death as I am trusting this is correct info. But how the situation was handled was still unacceptable. I lost almost my entire day on Monday and did not respond to several quote requests and live loads that I could been working on. Yes, passing of a family member is hard to accept, but in 30 minutes or less Robbie or someone from Jas Heavy Haul could have called those that have loads on their trailers that they will not be delivered and to come pick-up via another truck from trailers current location. Activate your email vacation alert stating there has been a family emergency and the office will be closed until whatever date you choose. With a few phone calls, those with live loads can get their freight and any new inquires know the office is closed due to a family issue. All would have been resolved. I had an event # with the Edmonton Police. They called me just when my new driver found the trailer so I had them cancel the event # but a lot effort was put to resolve this issue and lost loads. Thanks to everyone's insight on this situation.

I agree, I was really stressing late Monday afternoon that I would have a lost load and no carrier insurance. I was almost going to call insurance company where we contigent cargo insurance for our brokerage but luckily that was not required. My stress was if our contigent cargo would cover this situation. It should but insurance companies can always find a way to say they are not responsible.

Raj just called me 11:30am, March 5/13, apologizing on the situation. He even sent me an email that he has a couple trucks in Edmonton with Jas Heavy Haul as the signature. So I questioned Raj on Roger wireless stating phones were cancelled and no insurance. Raj stated that they are a company of owner operators that are learning this business. He said the cell phones are working and I tried calling the 780-989-2005 and it now goes to voice mail but the voicemail is full. Raj said that Robbie has forwarded all phones to Raj. Even the 1-855-989-2005 goes to voicemail where as Monday it said phone # was not available. Raj could not explain what happened with the cell #'s but says they are working now. I called Rogers Wireless today but they won't discuss the account details with me. When I asked about the cancelled insurance, that is when I found out that they have pretty well shut down Jas Heavy Haul and will now be operating as Armstrong Logistics. They have new insurance and Alberta plates on 4 trucks so far. I have not carrier package as proof but this is what Raj told me. Raj simple stated that they are all hard working guys with little business experience and are trying to learn this business. I explained despite the hardship of finding out of the mother passing, someone just needed to make few calls or emails or fax and this entire situation could have been avoided. Raj said that he knows mistakes were made and this should have been dealt with differently. Raj said he is looking after the business until Robbie returns. I also said to Raj that Robbie should have advised that they were changing companies and provided update info, he agreed. Not sure what to do now.. Do you give them another chance provided their new authorities all checks out? or do you blacklist? Thoughts?

In reading this and listening to his reply - do you really want to give your customer's freight to someone who has little experience and is "learning the business"...I'm not in dispatch - but I wouldn't.

Perhaps if you are sympathetic to their "new business little experience" situation - watch what freight you give them and give them another try. But after this ordeal and reading all your posts - I doubt many members will be that sympathetic.

Too many issues with your freight - that no matter what the explanation provided was - just don't add up.

My 2 cents...

Their lack of experience (or in my opinion- a whole bunch of stories) could put you at a risk for liability. And that could cost you alot of money, my friend.

Not too mention they're in the heavy haul business? It's not like they're dragging dryvans up and down the road running pin to pin. Load securement, tarping, loading / un loading... give moves like these to the guys that know what they're doing. Fleets that have 'operators' not just drivers. There are lots of good flat bedders on this board that can point you in the right direction.

Why do they have to close and open under another name?? If they are new to the business and they have already run one company into the ground why would you even consider giving them another chance? They where going to pull your load with an unlicensed truck with no insurance.. They made my DNU ever list - and I had never heard of them until yesterday.

Well I can assure that no Jas Heavy Haul is at or was at 26 Automatic Rd, Suite 201 Brampton cause I'm located at 26 Automatic Rd and in Suite 203 which is next door. The person who rents the 201 operates truck driving school hope this helps.
