J A TRANSPORTATION in Scarborough doesn't pay their drivers.

Anyone know where this can be reported?

This would be a Labour Board issue.

And before contacting them - make sure you have all your paperwork in order. Including your start date - all documentation provided to you from JA's operations outlining job requirements - pay package and past pay stubs. You should also have some sort of backup to their payroll that you have requested monies owed - and are either being denied payment or simply ignored.

Labour Board expects documentation - and lots of it. Be prepared.

Gather all of this up first before calling.

Thanks guys for the replies, looks like that if you're an independent contractor is nothing to do with the labour board.

Don't be so sure.
If you are a company driver, hired as an independent contractor, they could still be in violation of a lot more things. WSIB, REVCAN both take a dim view of workers who really are employees being classed as "independent contractors". With a few exceptions, its pretty much illegal.

A report would be filed to the Ontario Ministry of Labour, GTA: 416-326-7160 Canada-wide: 1-800-531-5551.

If the "employer" even opens their mouths about drivers being contractors it will be game on for more levels of government then they could possibly imagine.

The lure of being the independent contractor it usually doesn't work out in the end.
