Is it hard to find a outbound load from Canada side?

I am having trouble to find loads outbound. Anyone had a suggestion? Thanks.
 
It is difficult for me to find a load on Link today. Do you guys have any other source? Are they always distribute loads before post it on link?
 
Most outbound freight never hits the link. Some US broker freight does and some looking for cheapest rate Canadian broker freight does but for the most part it will be junk!!

Good luck the first 2 weeks of July are usually slow with all the shutdowns going on.
 
WOW, That is what I was thinking, could this be a end after 2 weeks? How could I hooked up with someone that could give me outbound loads? Thanks 。

With all due respect it amazes me everytime I see a post like this one from an unsuspecting soul who thinks that the Link is the place where all the loads come from.
YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR OWN CUSTOMERS!!.
If you want to be a trucking company you need to have customers of your own.
Loadlink is something you go to as a last resort when your northbound load cancels or you are trying to get to or from a lane that you do not often get to.
If it is your only source of business, you are doomed from day one.
 
90% of our business is automotive and more than half of what I do is sales and the other half is dispatch/fuel tax/admin. On any given week, freight finds us. This past week, I've had to work the phones and emails with current clients. Quotin' and askin' for freight.
 
yes, these two weeks is very hard for me, hope it would be end soon. I do not have any customer of my own, because I am starting a new business. A lot people were watching me and thought I am crazy, but not a big deal to me. At least I am survived so far.
 
This is the time you put on your happy voice, schmooze and make sure every driver treats every order like it's for the most important person in the world...and remember to say thank you. Keeping in contact with the customer and telling them how you're doing with freight before they ask, I find, is always appreciated and works wonders. It shows you care. That's the easiest way I can explain what I do. Call it the soft approach to sales without having to be a full-on salesman. There's little to differentiate your company from others you are competing against other than not damaging freight and how you treat people. Treat people like crap, contempt or mistrust, expect it in return. Freight karma. Not pricing yourself out of the market or pulling your pants down to get a load is equally as important. Don't be afraid to say no to a load that you know is cheap or will cost you more to move it. Get to know your costs and find a sweet spot for rates that makes your company attractive.
 
Thank you very much noprolembuddy, well saying.That is exactly what I am doing. I do respect my job and trying everything to protect our credit. All the broker we worked with so far gave us positive feedback and I got all the check from them on time so far also. But I am having problem knowing the market price in different areas. By the way, Do you have any idea when will this slow season be a end?

During this time all of the big players in the automotive field need freight to keep there trucks moving so the loads that are overflow at there customers that Traffic may sell to other brokers are not there during this period.

You say you are having trouble pricing lanes if that is the case pick lanes and live or die by them running to Cali this week and Chicago next New York the following will never get you repeat business. Pick an area stick with it work it hard and don't be full of it. As you expand then expand your coverage area or pick a new lane. If you do get your own customer then lanes will change and be sparadic but brokers will call if you do the job and dont be a crusty ol prick like me!!

LOL you're not a prick.

You're right about automotive shutdown. I've had to replace nearly everything we do automotive-wise with every imaginable stick of freight from load brokers. We use load brokers for like maybe a quarter of our capacity otherwise when automotive is running. This past week and the current week it's pretty much 90% load broker, 10% customer lol. So I've been wearing my sales hat a lot lately. Quotin' and grinnin'.
 
I actually worked with traffic tech with one load, the rates seems ok for that one. 1300 for 500 miles if I remember it right.

I recommend getting some direct customers.
This is the best way to get freight.

Montreal to Toronto . People paid 450 for this, Is it fair? I can not survive with this kind of rates.
