It’s been awhile since I have had to write a bad review on a carrier. We HATE trying out carriers we don’t know, but every now and then we have no choice.
We used Interload Truck Service for LTL of 5 skids from Toronto area to Vancouver. Booked it with a man named Stan Odo for Pickup Friday, deliver by the following Tuesday. Now that seems like a normal run, no borders and no snow yet.
The shipment gets picked up Friday but he stopped replying to emails or calls after 3:30 PM. On Monday we are calling Stan and all we receive answering machines that are full, and they don't reply to emails. We try every extension we can and they all have full voicemails. Maybe that alone is the sign of a troubled carrier.
Tuesday at 10:00 AM we get an email from Stan stating he was in the hospital since 4:00 AM on Monday. Apparently a person gets so sick he is in the hospital but the rest of the company is not concerned what he was working on. The next email comes in at 11:30 AM stating “I am running behind. My driver collapsed in WPG Sun We only found out yesterday. We flew a driver out to carry on. He is doing Calgary todat and ........ tomorrow”
Now I can’t recall the last time I heard of a carrier that was willing to FLY a driver in to replace another driver. I’m sure it happens but the only dispatcher it seems is in the hospital Monday morning, and the driver “collapsed” the same day seems highly unusual. So what can you do? You wait and pray. So they are supposed to deliver Wednesday by mid morning according to further email. One day late is something I can deal with but as the owner, I did send an email to please be up front if there are any further delays.
I email and call later on Tuesday to get an update. No reply and Voicemail full. I emailed every contact on a sheet they sent us and try to call several numbers. All voicemail full. No replies. I call the after hours number on the sheet and I get the OPS Manager, Nick. He explains he knows nothing about this load and will get Stan to call me. Now if a company “Flew out a driver” you would think the operations manager would know about it. So Stan calls and tells me driver is done in Calgary and on his way to Vancouver. He actually asks me not to call at night and try to enjoy my evening.
He replies to my previous email on Wednesday AM saying truck is done in Calgary and will update shortly when it will deliver. A half hour later I get an email from him stating the truck did not finish in Calgary, and will deliver this morning. So now we are at least 2 days late. I call to talk to him and finally reach him. Well I go off on him a little bit and with some persuasion he gives me the drivers phone number. He also expresses how he’s been in this business for 40 years and I bluntly said, “I would think you’d be better at it.”
So longer story short, I call the driver, he is in fact in Calgary, he never “Flew into” Winnipeg. He was the original pickup driver in Toronto and told Stan he’d be leaving Sunday. So Sunday to Tuesday with a single was never going to happen so it was just another carrier lying in order to fill the truck and provide a terrible service. The driver was easy to deal with, delivered Thursday AM as he planned and we are two days late but so glad our freight got out of their hands with only two sleepless nights. Thank you Stan and the gang for providing a terrible service.
The bottom line; UNLESS YOU WANT TO WORRY ABOUT YOUR FREIGHT FOR DAYS, GET NO REPLY WHEN YOU NEED IT, EXPERIENCE LIE AFTER LIE, DO NOT EVER USE THIS CARRIER. I’m sure he’ll simply be with someone else soon, or the name will change. Even looking up Google reviews, their own staff on the Contact sheet is writing reviews to pump up how many stars they get. Now that is sad you can’t even create a new Google email to write a fake review.
