When you get the 10 mil stuff and use it properly, it protects your shipment from the elements. We need 40' x 100' rolls and need to get them off quick because of the cranes, people etc. waiting. It's not cheap but it gets the job done. Also prevents the shingles and siding from flying off the houses/buildings. Most importantly, it prevents the blow in insulation in the attic from displacing in transit to the back end of the building. That's a real bitch to fix in the field.
