Hi,

Have a question about the HST. When doing my GST returns now...what changes?? Can't seem to find any info on it. I have delayed doing my July return because I don't know what to do. I don't get my fuel receipts back from my company...just a statement with the total. Do I now claim 13% on the fuel? Or still 5? Thanks for the help!

Thanks..but was just hoping for a quick answer without pouring through lots of government mumbo jumbo that doesn't pertain to my situation. I was sure someone here would be in the same boat, and have a quick answer for me.

Yes HST is now charged on fuel @ 13%

I would suggest the HST be backed out of your fuel totals.

Your July GST/HST return should have an access code on the first page so you can file electronically if you wish, much faster than telefile.

Just fill in the same information you would on a paper return, click, and your cheque arrives in a week or so.

The best thing to do would be what your chartered accountant tells you to do. If you don't have an accountant, get one. They have the expertise to keep you out of trouble and what they cost you, you will save on penalties and interest. If you've delayed remitting the second quarter return, then your about to be hit with a penalty and interest on any unpaid assessment. If you make a habit of late filing, you will be targeted for an audit.

Thanks Cher..
I have been filing electronically for years. That's exactly what I thought about this new HST..but just wanted some input before I file. Will be nice to get a refund cheque that is a little bigger now!!
