Here we go again. Had a driver following his GPS to a pickup in Southaven, MS. Got halfway around a right hand corner before he saw the "no trucks" sign. Next to impossible to stop and back up (with a hiway tractor and 53' wagon) safely so he made his turn. Of course just as he was around the corner one of Southaven's finest pulls him over and issues a summons. The summons has no price on it, just a number to call and speak to the court clerk on it. When he gets back he asks me to call for him and find out how much he needs to get the bank draft for and who to make it payable too. Any idea how much? How about $1147.50! Please follow the link below to Southaven's web site and most ticket prices and explain to me how this is possible.

Locals taking advantage of the Canadians? wouldn't be the first time....check out the link for reporting concerns, contact name and number....might be worth $75 for a lawyers letter? also...fines listed for not commercial vehicle fines....let us know if you fight it...I would at least get a lawyer to send off a letter asking for a reduction and use their own website for backup.

Michigan cops are the worst... 8 times out of 10 the truck they have pulled over has an Ontario plate on it.

Once had a guy get a speeding ticket for 56 in a 55 - BA$TARDS!

That is the problem with GPS it does not know whether you are driving a car, a truck or walking. We basically stopped our drivers from using them as there only means to get anywhere, they need to confirm the route with verbal directions, map book etc. It is really making for lazy drivers most of them can't figure out routes anymore.

There is a new pc miler gps for trucks that is out now. I have a driver that has one it seems to work quite well. Gives truck routes and low bridges and truck stops fuel stops all kinds of truck related info on it.

We use Peoplenet and they are claiming to be able to supply one also in the near future where we can actually send the trip they need to follow and it will give the drivers the instructions as needed.

Michigan DOT and State Troopers have been told specifically to target Ontario trucks for revenue purposes only. Not to create a safe environment but just for the money. Just wait until the Blitz on June 8-10.
