Gosal Express Dorval

Very interesting, I booked them 430pm last night, to make a pickup at 1pm today in Montreal area to go to Ottawa and deliver to jobsite tonight. Paid about $5.00 a mile. Enough to cover hours and return trip, basically $100/hour job. So I don't need any comments about the rates, thanks. At 1pm, he's leaving Dorval..a little late but hey $hit happens...At 245pm he's almost in Kahnawake...been stuck on the Mercier bridge for 2 hours, because of the freezing rain !?! It's 11'C in Montreal right now at 330pm Wednesday...the webcam shows the bridge clear both East and West, been like that all through mid-day, like normal (before rush hour)....at 330pm, still sitting in truck (supposedly still stuck on bridge) driver is quitting and not going to make pickup, but it's a company driver, and company truck....hmm...this sounds like someone brokered to someone else's truck....I should have known, dispatcher Mike had to put me on hold to get driver's name and wagon number...my BS filter should have gone off then, I suspect he double brokered load and was scrambling.
Most professional dispatchers can rattle off driver's name to me whenever I ask, unless you're running 1000 trucks...even then...we tried this Gosal Express, the one from Dorval, a few months back on similar load, same results, he did show up that time, 2 hours late for pickup....but I must give credit, he made delivery ontime that time...they found the way to my DNU list, no I didn't prove they double brokered, although I suspect it, but I will maintain they are useless, uncapable, and up to something unethical

Before I read who you dealt with, I said to myself "I bet Michael was who he was dealing with". I have known Michael from at least 3 or 4 different companies over the years and he never fails to burn me when I give him a shot. I would no longer give him that chance again. Gosal also did the same thing to another client of ours (who was using them directly). We must all use our Spidey-Senses whenever we can. If it smells funny, it usually is. PM me if you want more info. Unfortunately, I cannot give Gosal the chance I might have due to their choice in this 'dispatcher'.

We may be lucky ... either that or they are giving different service levels according to how they feel about certain brokers? Who knows?

I've checked the loads they've done for us -- no real service issues and all PARS match up -- the drivers even sign with their name and Gosal Brothers on them. So double brokering no ... not saying something else isn't going on though.

Be careful, there is more then one Gosal...this is Express not Brothers....I've used Brothers before, no problem, they're from GTA, Express is from Montreal, I've never given them any cross border work, and only doing their second job. As I said the first job, they arrived to pu late but made delivery on time...every day we are all making commitments to each other, and in this most recent case, they had 21 hours advance opportunity to report if plans were going sideways. Instead they waited until AFTER closing time, while I had shipper on OT waiting for them, before pulling out of the job. Add to this the "freezing rain" and the "blocked Mercier bridge". This guy thinks he's talking to morons. Maybe true but, when you're making commitments to your clients, and someone pulls this on you? I commit to the client, I commit to the truck, and they each commit to me, there's 3 players in every one of the scenarios we all play out every day. They are the missing link here. I hope none of you find yourself in this spot. We were lucky enough to get someone else pickup the pieces, it still hit the fan and cost us a few hundred, probably in the $800 range...does Gosal have anything invested in this? Nope, unless any of you take my warning and remember how they play their role.

This gets better, Oct 12 we had a job from PQ to Barry's Bay near Pembroke, a domestic LTL shipment again, I forgot about this one, but my staff recalled, Oct 8 booked this sack to do this job Oct 12...Gosal Express Michael pulled the same crap that trip too...see these guys can make reservations, but they can't KEEP reservations...
good luck if you choose to use this outfit....oh the driver from yesterday quit, they took his keys and kicked his a$$ out the door...sure Mike...

Shakey, you're all the better for it...and I have the satisfaction of paying back the only way we really can, by shining some light on the truth about them. And for your decision I say thank you. My practice has become to do a search on a new carrier on this forum each time I take on a new trucker. And I would do the same with brokers I was starting up with if I had trucks. This forum would be worth it's weight in thousand dollar bills if it worked like this everytime. If there's anything pops up here negative it's got to make me stop and think, at least ask some questions...funny I check these guys before I gave them that load last week and there was nothing listed. AND even though I had 2 bad jobs, I still gave the benefit of the doubt, but enough is enough....

Gosal Express - Dorval QC

Funny,

I read the posts below and thought that it would be hard to mess up a pickup on the West Island when their truck is in Droval to begin with... I allowed the booking and spoke with dispatch to follow up diligently.

1 hour and 30 minutes later (approx 10 minutes ago) - Gosal Express is on site to load our FTL. Problem is his trailer is FULL.

LOL - on my DNU...

Too funny, almost could have predicted this was going to happen. Good thing it's outbound from Montreal, rebooked in seconds...

Keep well,

Mike

Gosal Express

Hello all,

Does someone have updated info on this company based in Dorval?

Please let me know if they did good or bad work for you.

Many thanks,

Paco

I gave them a small LTL MTL to OH

Picked up on Dec 22 - Del'd on Dec 29 (it was supposed to deliver on the 28th... but hey, it's LTL traveling over the holidays not a 30 minutes or free pizza).

NOTE: There are 3 times we left messages on voice mail when tracing. Each time we called them again before they returned our call. I'm not saying it's an issue... just saying. Michael did provide accurate info each time we did make contact.

I would use again - yes. However, I would keep a close eye on them.
