Commenting on fuel surcharges. When a operator gets paid, and finds out he owes them, for the priviledge of working there, it is time to start asking for more fuel money or look for another job. As an owner operator, the surcharge isn't high enough. There is a very popular transport company that always has his name on the hiring list in Lake City, Burnaby, BC (Highland Transport) and it is because when the owner operator's find out that they can't make a living working there, they move on. Pretty bad when you, the guy paying the fuel bill, isn't being given enough money to cover it. If you weren't driving for them, you wouldn't be using the fuel in the first place.... Might be time to give up the truck and have a company truck, then at least you see a pay cheque.
