I am a broker in Ontario but I am doing business with US trucking companies. I have never applied for an EIN #, Federal Tax # or Tax Payer #.
Today I was told I must have this if I am to hire US truckng firms. Can anyone confirm if this is true?
We are also a fully licensed US broker moving freight within the United States as well, so I need to know if this is something I have missed.
I have been open 11 years but I really do not remember ever requesting an EIN #.
