Good Morning All,

We are looking to replace our 385/65/R 225 super singles on a 4-axle flatbed.

We are running Michelins right now but they are like the tire - SUPER expensive!

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I know that at my old employ the trailers and drive axles of tractors were equipped with these tires except for a few cases. Keep in mind these are low rolling resistance tires, so if you're doing cross-Canada trips in the winter they are not necessarily ideal. They do enhance fuel economy and having less wheels brings down the unladen equipment a bit too.

The only drawback is that if you end up blowing one on the side of the road somewhere and need to call roadside help, it's more difficult to get a match to these than normal tires. I know that ConWay, Kriska, Challenger and many of the big USA fleets are using these on at least some units ... I wouldn't buy a lower end tire especially in wide singles.

I would check and see what kind of mileage you got on the tires you are changing or how many years if you don't have hubs. Make your judgement from that, if you got a lot of years/mileage it would be an easy decision on going with Michelin again.
