we had moved one from within canada SK - MB ... got stuck at receiver for two days so safety expired ...Does anyone have any insight about moving an empty trailer from Detroit Michigan to Windsor Ontario that has an expired annual safety?
Does a service plate help?
Two choices. A shop in Michigan does it or bounce it back across the bridge and get it done at home. As far as legal probably not but also not a whole bunch of choices.Does anyone have any insight about moving an empty trailer from Detroit Michigan to Windsor Ontario that has an expired annual safety?

Thanks for the insight, we are trying to avoid extra costs and not involve an unvetted vender. The important part is that it is inspected annually. It does not have to be an Ontario annual. You can get it done in the US or any other province so long as it covers the CSA requirements. We do this quite frequently in the US but then get it done at an Ontario shop when the trailer is back.
If you get it done outside of Ontario, ask for the measurements for brakes and tire tread depth along with the check list of everything that was inspected.
This came up on our audit and we passed without issue. Just make sure you get it done before crossing into Ontario.
