On my personal email account I was forced to switch as well several months ago and was missing a huge chunk of emails. I downloaded a new email program and all the missing emails were there. I never investigated the problem with the NEW outlook.

I used the New outlook for about 2 weeks - worst crap ever.
Switched to regular outlook. You should have something up top right you can click to revert to regular outlook.

EMCLient. It is free for a personal user. I also pay for my business account since I have many email accounts using my domain. I forget how many perpetual licences for a small fee.

You can but not for long enough. eventually you have to accept this new outlook. I was forced to switch back 4 months ago and now I am used to it. Initially same thing ' worst crap ever'
but they are changing things everyday now..
