This is a warning to any carriers presently dealing with Electrolux, L'Assomption, PQ. We have an outstanding freight invoice from Sept.and they have refused to respond to all our requests for payment or even to offer an explanation. We have heard from other Electrolux offices that the L'Assomption facility is being shut down. When we placed the collection with a Quebec agency, they seemed to be well aware of the Electolux situation. If there is any bright side to this, it is that there is only one invoice!

The shut down has been all over the news the last two weeks. The owners of the plant are from Europe and have decided to shut down this plant and are re locating it to Memphis TN. The move was prompted by the state of TN and the city of Memphis caughing up over $135 million each to create Jobs.
Word is that the plant employs between 1600 and 3000 souls, depending on who you believe.
The area will be hard hit.
I cannot see why there is a delay with your payment. The shut down is not for at least another year.
This may simply be greed.
Go after them with all you have got, make sure you look at garnishing their bank account.

My experience with big companies like that is that if you bill something outside of the contract rate (they don't work on spot stuff) it's a mess getting paid. Accessorials too.

It shouldn't make any difference where the plant is ... if it's Electrolux you'll get paid.

We have only done a very few shipments for them, and have always been paid until now. The shipments originated with one of our regular US shippers who usually ships prepaid, except for these ones to Electrolux. Your opinion of Electrolux was exactly the same as mine.... till now. Believe me, we tried contacting anyone that had anything to do with payables for this company, not only in Quebec, but here in Ontario as well, all to no avail. At this point, we will wait and see what the collection agency will do for us. Just goes to show you, even with the big companies, it can be difficult to get paid, if you get paid at all. What's that expression....size doesn't matter?

I am only a local carrier for Electrolux in Ontario but have never had an issue in 23 years.

Was this load made direct with Electrolux or 1 of there carriers 3rd partying it.
I have never had an issue with Electrolux but won't deal in a 3rd party manner.
