Eagle Freight Services, Brampton Ontario

One thing Load Link could do, is ask all companies that are offering cross border freight on the Load Link platform, for a copy of their FMCSA Property Brokers registration. This wouldn’t completely stop double brokering but it would be a small step in the right direction.

It's interesting the comments are about rates - this is about double brokering and those that do it obviously don't have the necessary financial/brain skills to start their own company so hence they get double brokered loads from their buddies (who happens to have a Load Link account).
Quickest way to stop it - Load Link should not participate in the degradation of the very industry that their business derives revenue from.
They are well aware of it - they even joke it's now called co-brokering. They just don't have the integrity and responsibility to do anything about it

It is because we don't hear the noise about double brokering when we are in a up market only down. Seems it is acceptable practice when rates are high.

Loadlink is in this game to make money, yes I'm sure they wish it didn't happen and we all got along and paid each other in 30 days, paid claims on time, gave loads back if couldn't cover, told each other the truth, but we are far from a utopian society. I feel all in all they do a good job trying to keep bottom feeders out in a open marketplace.

Doesn't matter what industry or service you are into, there are unscrupulous characters that will enter and play in the grey and make all they can off anyone and everyone else's hard work. It is up to the business owner to try and ensure they build company on strong relationships with reputable Load Brokers or shippers, this is not easy but nothing good typically is.

Well, not to be a devil advocate, but..
From what I understand, Loadlink makes money of subscribers.. More subscribers- more money.
Who are the subscribers?
Some- using to deal with ocassional loads, some- trying to find a back haul, some- live from it.
Link won't do any MAJOR clean up in the industry, otherwise they will shoot themselves in the foot by decreasing amount of subscribers...
Happy Hump Day!
Spring is around the corner!
My few cents, eh...

I am afraid you are probably right Igor. Although they may pay some lip service to ensuring only legitimate, professional operators, brokers and carriers alike, are represented on their platform, more subscribers equals more profits. Certainly if they receive enough complaints about a ”bad apple”, they will take some steps to restrict or shut them down, but as far as regularly policing their site, not too likely.

I have had a good response from Loadlink in the past when reporting the bad apples that we had come across. I believe it is a double edged sword for Loadlink, as there are others boards that do not half the Due Diligence they do. I suggest advising Loadlink when you see something that doesn't line up, send an email to complaints@loadlink.ca
