Has anyone had any luck hiring a full time driver recruiter? If so is it a base salary plus bonus?

Your best results will come with paying a reasonable salary ($35-40k) plus an incentive bonus (say $500.00 to $1000.00) for every driver or owner operator who fits your criteria such as staying 6 months accident free etc. This will give the person the incentive to go and look for them as opposed to waiting in the office for them to walk in. Truck stops and truck shows are a good breeding ground for finding candidates. But you can also offer the same incentive to your current drivers to help you attract new ones. A happy and content current employee will be your most believable sales person.

One of my clients has business cards sized recruiting info that he gives to each driver. As whatiship said, a content driver is your best recruitment tool. Add a bonus structure into it and they will at least hand out your cards like water.

We already give our drivers a sizable bonus for bringing in drivers, I just find that you have a run and then it is dry for a few months and then away they go again, looking for consistency. The funniest thing is the guys you would think would be the best at it are usually the worst and the ones you do not think talk to anyone are the best.
