There is an interesting read on the CBC News website this morning regarding Driver Inc. Really nothing new or earth shattering in their report other than outlining what the Federal government plans on doing to address the situation. If nothing else, at least keeping this issue in the public eye is beneficial. As we have all agreed, enforcement and stiff penalties are crucial to stamping out this illegal and harmful labour practice.

Two of my trucks got pulled over last week returning from AB .... and the MTO officer asked them what their status was in Canada AND if they got taxes deducted from their paychecks... something to that effect to confirm they were employees ... never had that happen
Doesn't this sound like profiling? How would they know if they said yes I have taxes deducted?

That's interesting.

We'll have to wait to see what happens I guess. Up to now the Liberals haven't had much of an appetite to change anything with respect to Driver Inc

I'm not real good at math... but when your country operates on taxpayers dollars and one demographic isn't contributing... I mean it's pretty easy to see the problem... even for me.

In terms of Driver Inc -

I pay my drivers an average of 2300-2600 CAD a week - every week - 50 weeks of the year.

Can anyone on this forum match that?

I heard someone of you still pay 32 cents a mile and provide free sunglasses and shirts as benefits then come on the forum talking about fair pay.

The biggest issue in our industry is overseas brokerages and “whatapp groups” that double and triple broker out loads.
As driver inc? 100-110 a year depending on driver as we all know some work more than others. Van freight on the books and home weekends.
