Has anyone worked with this company before?

They've been in business for 1 YEAR 4 MONTHS, they are located in Manteca, CA 95337, USA, have no inspections on their truck just "1 driver", no mileage written down and their phone number is from Colorado.

Let me know!

Does your gut tell you to run?

Answer me this brokers?

Why would a 1-5 truck fleet from the US be looking to come to Canada? Look around when driving you never ever for the most part see little us guys up here. The odd Potato hauler and a couple guys that have been at it for years but for the most part most US companies do not have Canadian running rights as they cannot find Canada on a map never mind want to run up here. They are all scammers calling you guys and you keep getting screwed around because of your greed and the fact they will take the shitty rates being offered. Why wouldn't they take the shitty rate they ain't hauling it nor do they ever intend to pay the sucker they get to double broker it too. IF a US carrier is calling and they do here all the time the load is covered even if they are the only ones that call for 3 days as better it sits another day and gets on a known truck as have a hell of a time with a scammer. Just my usual humble opinion.

Rob, as usual, has articulated this point very well from a carriers perspective. From the brokers side of things, I too cannot stop harping about being extra, extra cautious when dealing with any new supplier, especially one from the US with the number of red flags attached as this DO Logistics does. If this entity is the only one that is interesting in hauling your load, something is very much amiss. Either you have rated the load way too cheap, which explains why no known Canadian carrier will take it, or it is your turn to be number 1 on the scammers call list. If a new entity calls, right from the get go, consider them a scammer until it is proven otherwise. And if a known carrier calls in the meanwhile, give the freight to them. Don’t set yourself up for problems in the future and with the possibility of loosing your customer hanging in the balance. It just isn’t worth it!

Broker here and could not agree more. This isn't hard people. A random email or call should (IMHO) be treated as spam and ignored. We simply don't work with US based carriers doing cross border. At one time we worked with Landstar but it go so painful we stopped. We have two US based contacts for our intra-US and I can tell you the story of their travels, their kids, the issues with US healthcare vs. the Canadian system. In other words we have a relationship based on trust and hopefully friendship where both parties want to get the job done for our customers.

As far as all the new entrants in the Canadian market? Sorry but I've been doing this for a long, long time and in the words of Shania Twain, I'm only willing to dance with the one that brought me. Unfair? Maybe, but I would much rather pay a fair and AGREED upon rate to my TRUSTED carriers who have been with me through ups, downs, pandemics, rail strikes, port strikes fires - you get my point. And I need to know that I can sleep at night as opposed to making a few extra bucks and wondering and worrying. Think it through, if reliable Bob needs $1000 but Joe Shmoe quotes you $400 that don't pass the smell test. Finally take some time to learn the rates so you can can spot a pile of BS on your own.

And like Rob says, what does your gut say?

Friday rant over.
