Hi all,

I would like to get your input on this subject, I am currently looking into changing the dispatching software where I am working, from the old fashion multiple spreadsheet, that I find to provide multiple mistakes, to something nicer with an all inclusive type of thing (click and play)... (dispatch, ace, invoicing,...). I am trying to get some lead on any product that could do all of the needed requirement.

Must I need to include that it has to be "stupid-proof" because of some old timers that dislikes changes and adaptations... (Oh well, I'm sure I'm not the only one with that problem...)

Cheers

Depends on the fleet size, 20 trucks + definitely Fleet Manager from Transplus Trans Plus Systems Corp.
Been using it for few years now and couldn't be happier with our transition. No software is full proof BTW you can screw your numbers very easily on any platform. This one doesn't crash if that's what you mean...

I dont have 20 trucks never been over 19 but I will vote that Fleetmanager from Transplus has to be user friendly because I can use it. Simple easy to work with and they have great tech support for when you screw up something..

We use TransPlus as well.....user friendly for the most part, lots of usefull reports you can retreive from it.....hooks into PC Miler or accounting software.

Ive implemented both TruckMate and Fleet. I like fleet better, and its cheaper than truckmate, and easier to implement.
If you are going from a spreadsheet to this, buckle up. Sticker shock may be a factor once you add in annual licensing, users, etc. Depends on fleet size as to payback.

We run Truckmate which isn't the most user friendly, but it's pretty sophisticated when you really get into it. The reporting is great (helps if you have someone familiar with Crystal Reports rather than pay TMW for them). If you have multiple sites or multiple companies where you need to keep financials separate, Truckmate has good functionality.

For a straight forward program that is a lot simpler to use, you could try AXON. I recently viewed a demonstration of this software and it does the basics very well and quickly (dispatch, invoicing, payroll) and there is additional options to add on for ACE and Fuel tax reporting.

We didnt go for the software due to its limitations on reporting and the service add-on didnt meet our needs.

If you want a contact that can give you an online demo, PM me and Ill get you his number.

Kloda

I presume you are Kloda and do the Sound and Show equipement out of T.M.R.

We bought Dispatchmate from Infosite Technolgie in Terrebonne a year ago . They are local and the software is excellent.

It goes way beyond what we need.
Two great things are :
1)Export data directly into your accounting software without glitches!
2) Ace compliant, set up ACE manifest directly from Dispatch, takes 2 minutes.

Very good technical support.
I will recommend it , we are very happy with the purchase.

Call : 888-395-0354 for information.

If you really want to go all the bells and whistles try Sylectus .Full TMS with the ability to see where other members trucks are if you are looking to book another carrier for a pick-up. Not cheap but excellent software.

TKTLMAN...what the apprx price on that one you mentioned? Under 10k or over?

I know fleet is 25-40, and truckmate was more.

I wouldn't mind finding a cheapie for my little fleet now, but I don't have too many trucks.

We were on Sylectys a couple of years back and it was the worst decision of my life to go with that software. "Tried" it for a year or so before finally giving up on it and going with Trans Plus Fleetmanager. Maybe they improved not sure but will not even consider going with it for free now.

the quote I received was for the whole thing, they didn't break down everything for me I got a lump sum amount. I seem to remember on the phone that the base package was around $25,000 and that was your dispatch and accounting (can't remember if payroll was part of the base package, I think it might have been) and it included 5 user licenses.

There is an on-going support cost that is based on the value of the package you purchase (just like Truckmate).

Their number in 1-800-567-8385 and they are in Saskatchewan I think. Clayton was the man I spoke to.

Wow!! Surprised to hear that. I loved the system. It was linked to our Shaw incab system. Drivers would punch in when they had arrived etc and the customer was automatically e-mailed. It was very slick.

Price

I believe we got the packages we wanted for around $8,000.00 Cdn. There are other packaged features that we did not need.

It was pretty much impossible to use it with LTL/drops and picks, driver pay, switches and all other pretty much routine things you can easily do on other programs. The idea of sylectus was great, advertising was pretty much false as it could not do 50% of the things we needed it to do or was taking waaay too much time to do it...

Sorry to hear that. I guess not every system will work for everybody all the time :(

anyone has any idea how much Trans Plus costs? Also anyone else using it with positive experience

Good Morning RoadKing....we have been using the TransPlus software for approx 9 years and are happy with it. The upgraded version that we have now has alot of great functions and features. Its how you use it at the end of the day. Back then we paid $25,000-still blown away by how technology today has eaten up more of our profits...love the old version...paper paper.....now get this we are also charged $400 / month for what they call maintenance and upgrade fee.....LOL. Im in the wrong business! :-) Oh and one more thing we were able to tie in our new EOBR , Qualcomm system to the Trans Plus system.....cant wait to see that invoice.

I would not recommend Sylectus at all in fact I would recommend to stay away from it. Lot's of problems at the time when we used it (4 years ago) and it is not for carriers who have more than 1 shipment on board or do switches etc. It is designed for expedite 1 pick 1 drop shipments. Idea is great, implementation - rather limited. Was a disastrous experience for us, dispatchers almost had to quit to get another program in place (we went with TransPlus and couldn't be happier).
