Direct Freight Intl Double Broker
Sure enough I did some snooping and they load they gave me was TRIPLE brokered to me from a reputable Quebec broker I have delt with in the past to a company called GEO? then to direct freight intl then to me. Thanks for the tip I managed to get to the source before I picked up. I'm trying to get more info on Geo I'll keep y'all posted

It's amazing what you can find when you go snooping around. Like rats, some of these guys cannot be found unless you dig deep. I wonder if it's time for all members to compile and post a master list of phoney carriers and double/triple brokers? If we can deprive them of their revenue maybe they will wither up and go away like a bad weed!

Good Idea
"Loaders" - like your idea about compiling a list but it might be tricky from a legal standpoint. "Scam Chaser" would be able to shed more light on this. I could start a list today and quickly add about 10 right off the top of my head....horrible.

If we called the list BLACKLISTED I don't think there is any legal actions that can be brought about. We don't have to list why.

My Opinion:
Anyone can sue anyone. With that in mind....
(1) The hosts of this board (whoever it/they may be) can/have insulated themselves by:
(a) not posting any negative comments as ADMIN
(b) defining the purpose of the service they provide (educational, etc)
(2) there exists potential liability to any poster on this site for damages suffered to another party, if the posting is not a statement of fact.
For example, let's say that a regular contributor here cited a certain freight broker with a negative comment about owing him money for an unusual number of days. No further details. Let's also say that there were legitimate reasons why the short payment occurred, and that the carrier elected not to pursue it against the culpable party (which was not the freight broker). (Note - I am not a party to the BL/shipment, and am not the freight broker).
This could probably be an actionable item since the posting was not a statement of fact.
(3) This sight allows for non-members to see postings. Probably a good thing at the start to increase membership, but not such a great thing for the future, in that it allows anyone to view the comments posted, not just the "members"
(4) When a thread is commenced and based on a statement of fact, the thread should contain the name, address and phone number of the company you are citing. Otherwise, posting negatives about "Genesis" for example could lead to confusion by someone reading your posting.
A blacklist should be the individual postings of the members based on statement of facts e.g. "I didn't get paid for 135 days". To compile a list would not be recommended, especially with open viewing by anyone.
Legal cases based on transportation internet forums are rare due to the relative infancy of the subject.. To my knowledge, the only reported case involved Goeland Transport in Quebec, a broker named STCH and an association of Quebec based freight brokers named AITQ. Without going into lengthy details, one member of the broker association complained to other members through some form of internet exchange, comments about Goeland (which proved to be inaccurate). The group encouraged members to discontinue using Goeland, and Goeland was successful in their suit of punitive damages in the amount of $25000 against STCH. AITQ had to issue a retraction regarding the information deseminated to its members. (Quebec Superior Court May 2007)
Gheorghe Opaina Trucking tried to double broker another load for more then what the load was given to them for caught them in the act and called the right broker and had it all sorted out. Watch out for Gheorghe Opaina Trucking.
